sympathetic deceit

"Do we have to do it?"

"Yes Virgil! It's his first anniversary with us! We have to make him feel welcome!"

"Fine.."

There's was a knock at Deceits door. Usually nobody went to his room, maybe to tell him dinner was ready, but that was rare. He opened the door to find Virgil and Patton on the other side, holding a small cupcake with a little candle. "Sorry it's not much, kiddo, but it's the best we could do without Virgil here burning himself," Patton explained, getting a small "hey" from Virgil.

Dee looked at the two surprised. He cautiously took the cupcake and blew out the candle before licking the icing. The two sides on the other side of the door looked at him with curiosity and hopefulness. Deceit smiled a little bit, liking the delicious cupcake. "It's disgusting," He complimented.

Patton smiled in delight, happy he liked the cupcake. Virgil gave him a happy smirk, letting him know that they could become close friends one day. "We'll let you get ready for the day. Happy birthday, Dee!" "Yeah, happy birthday moron."

Deceit smiled, watching them walk off. This was weird, but it was nice. When he first appeared, no one really liked him. Heck, Virgil hated his guts! But, with time, came respect. Now, he's happy to call the others his friends, maybe not family, but they're his friends, and that's all he really needs right now.

Once Deceit was done getting dressed, he walked into the commons, seeing Roman and Logan with four presents, all wrapped with their 'assigned' colors. The other two, Patton and Virgil, came in as well.

Deceit looked at the four confused. This didn't happen. Ever. He opened the gifts, happy with what he got.

The lying side began to silently cry. He was happy, so, so happy. He was finally accepted but the others, even if he was considered a dark side.

He was finally happy.

Then he woke up.
