Chapter 38: Good Vs Evil (part 4): Shards of Glass

"This is our battle and I intend to win it." She says with confidence, holding her head high.
"Sorry to say dearie, but so do I." I state with a smirk, closing my hands together and opening them once again...

A person learns in their life that what they thought they knew, who they thought they knew, aren't what they seem. Usually, its a lot more simplistic but for me, the woman I thought I knew was not the woman I thought she was. Infront of me, stood the enemy and that's what I had to concentrate on. It was my life followed my thousands after or her followed by no more.
"I dont want to kill you but I will." I state in my most mature and confident voice ever, holding the ball of darkness.
"Hmm, I do want to kill you so I will!" And with that, she throws a ball of fire towards me.

I catch it and close my hands, making it into an even bigger ball of flames. She smirks as I throw it on the ground, watching as it bounces up and hits her smack in the face. She lets out a scream and I take this opportunity to let the darkness consume her. So, clasping my hands together, I work up a rather large circle of pure blackness and get ready to throw it at her, when she dissapears.

I stare confused, looking around, when I hear an evil cackle from above me. She lands behind me, pulling me down with her. Quickly, she vanishes and re-appears infront of me, forming a small ball of water. She kneels down and shoves it in my mouth, forcing me to swallow. I start coughing, the lungs in my body failing. I concentrate in these few fatal seconds and dissapear, appearing a few feet away. I splutter up the water and throw my head back, catching my much needed breath.
"Nice try." I say with an angry frown as I circle my arm, a line of electricity striking her. She shakes uncontrollably and I walk towards her. Unexpectedly, she throws a bolt of light down at me and I scream, falling to my knees, before crouching further down, hunching over.
"It was a good battle and your a strong fighter Adeline, I'll give you that, but I've got to finish you now. Any last words?" She asks and I feel a new found power surge through me, taking over my body and controlling my mind.

I look down at my hands and lower arms to see them as nothing more than transparent, outlined in a black mist. I look up in her eyes and she gasps, stumbling back. In her orbs I could see my own eyes...they were pure black, a dark abyss. A smirk curls its way onto my lips and with the new strength, I swiftly stand, grabbing her shoulders and staring deep into her crimson eyes.
"Go to Hell Auntie." And with that I kiss her forehead, stepping back as her body turns into a shadow before she explodes, a black mist left behind, with small ashes fallen on the clouds of darkness.

I sigh, running a hand through my hair as the world around me slowly falls, like shards of glass and I return, surrounded by those who I'd had learned to care for.
"Your all free. You dont have to live in fear anymore." I announce and everyone cheers, affection shown and laughter spread.
"Excuse me miss, we dont have any rulers." A voice says and the crowd starts chiming in.
"Adeline!" Hadens familar voice exclaims and I turn, running and jumping into his arms as we capture lips. The kiss was passionate, desperate and all of our worries drifted away.
"You did it!" He yells and I smile, embracing me tightly.
"We did it." I say and spin around, holding onto his hands that were hung over my shoulders and embracing me.
"What do we do now? They need a ruler." He says before looking down at me with wide hopeful, red eyes. My eyes widen and I step away, shaking my head.
"I cant be there ruler Haden!" I protest and he stares at me with glistening eyes.
"We could be together and you could finally create the harmony and peace." He explains and I shake my head, frowning.
"My mum is back home, my life is back home. I'm sorry Haden." I say, my voice cracking as my eyes water.
"No dont be... I understand. We'll figure something out." He says and hugs me, our bodies close and warm.

"I...love you." I mumble and he pulls ever so slightly back, a wide grin on his face.
"I love you too sweetheart."

Chapter 38 and they are free! However, they dont have a ruler and Adeline cant bring herself to do it and leave her life behind.

What will happen now? What will be in store for Haden and Adeline?
