Chapter 11: Avarice- Kingdom of Greed

"W-we should get going. Still got six Kingdoms to explore." I gulp, shuffling off his chest and helping him up.
"Well sweetheart, we're already here. Welcome to Avarice, Kingdon of Greed."

I look around, my mouth open and my hazel eyes wide. My throat has turned dry, almost as dry as the ground here. I scan the floor and lean forward, cautiously touching the tip of the silver rustic blade that potrudes from infront of my feet. It is suprisingly sharp and pricks my skin, crimson slithering down my index finger.
"Ow." I hold back a groan of pain as I look inside my bag and pull out a plaster, opening it and placing it over the wound.
"What's with all the swords and weapons?" I ask, looking up at Haden, as I zip up my bag and throw it over my shoulder once again.
"Queen Orabellas' sin is greed, meaning she has the most of nearly everything. She likes to showcase them. What better way to do it than stick them in almost every inch of the ground." Haden smirks, looking around until his red orbs spark at the sight of a glistening and detailed sword.
"Haden leave it." I warn, walking further forward.
"C'mon we might need to use it." He laughs and I grab his arm, dragging him away from the weapon.
"Lets go Hades." I say and he gives me a confused look.
"It's Haden." He corrects and I shrug.
"I know."

As we walk further, the sky only seems to darken, splatters of emerald and juniper colouring the sky. Stripes of an electric blue and a vibrant amethyst flashes like lightening bolts, making me jump and cling to Haden as he scans around us, watching intently for danger. Greed, like the other sins, is dangerous. People who posses this, will stop at nothing to get what they want and if they want us, they'll find a way to get us.

We travel carefully, following the path to wherever Haden is taking us.
"So, Haden." I begin, glancing at him.
"So, Adeline." He mimicks, smirking as he glances in my direction, meeting my glaring eyes.
"How do you know the Kingdoms so well?" I ask and he shrugs before pushing me to walk faster as we pass some folks.
"Well, I've been here for a long time now." He responds and I grab his arm, stopping him before looking around.

I smile and pull him into a darkened corner, sitting down on a bench.
"Tell me about yourself. I only know your a fire Shaper and your name is Haden." I say and he chuckles, sitting down. His face suddenly turns serious.
"Well... you could call my life a living tragedy. When I was younger, my mum seperated from me and my father to work for a Queen, I'm not sure which one and we never saw her again. My dad decided he'd go looking for her and I never saw him after that. I assume he found her but I'm not certain. After that, I grew up living in abadoned houses and finding tunnels to the different Kingdoms. I discovered I was a fire shaper at the age of 19 and that's when I stopped aging. Many years later, I met your Aunt and she told me all about the prophecy, about you. I knew I wanted the Queens to be banished so I decided to help." He finished and I felt a tear slip from my eye.

He looked at me with mysterious eyes and wiped away the tear.
"I'm sorry, I dont know why I'm crying. It's just, you've had to learn how to grow up all on your own. You've never really had the support growing up." I said sadly and he shrugged.
"I've learned to survive alone, I can continue doing it." He sighed and I shuffled closer to him, placing my hand atop of his.
"Well, I think your amazing Haden." I yawned, my body shaking from the sudden change of day to night. The winds howled and the temperature nipped at my cheeks, tinting them red.
"Thanks sweetheart. We should get some rest. Here should be alright." Haden says, clearing his throat and I nod, wrapping my arms around myself.
"Come here. You can use me as a pillow." Haden says and I giggle, shuffling so my head is laying on his chest. His arms wrap around my waist and I instantly feel warmer.
"Goodnight Haden." I mumble, my tired eyes fluttering shut.
"Night sweetheart."
