I turned on my computer and began to scroll through deviant cases.

"Hm... just gonna act like you didn't just stare at me for a straight two minutes. Okay, then," she said, then turned her head.

"I'm s-sorry, Y/N," I stuttered.

I saw Hank chuckled and facepalm himself because I was that awkward.

"It's cool, I was just kidding," she said with a smile.

It felt as if I was melting. Her voice was smooth like silk and her smile was brighter than the sun.

"Connor?" Hank asked.

I whipped my head around, to see Hank holding back laughter.

How embarrassing.

"Come in the break room with me for a second," he said laughing.

"Sure, Lieutenant."

We walked into the break room and Hank burst out into laughter.

"Hank! Seriously? Did you just call me in here to laugh at me?" I said, crossing my arms.

"I-I'm sorry, Connor. It's j-just so funny!" he said trying to calm down his laughter.

"I'm going back to working," I spoke, sort of annoyed.

He grabbed my shoulder then turned me around, then stopped laughing after exhaling a few times.

"Alright, I'm sorry. But you really need to control yourself, Son," he said sounded serious.

"Well... how do I tell her I like her?"

I was desperate for an answer. She needed to no as soon as possible.

"I don't know? Maybe joke around with her, then tell her. I mean you're surprisingly good at talking to her and telling jokes when you don't think about it too much. Just calm down, Connor."

Finally, some good fucking advice. Jesus, Hank, took you long enough.

"Wow, that doesn't sound that hard," I told him while nodding my head then fixing my tie. "Do I look okay?"

"Connor, you willingly wear the same outfit every day. You always look more than okay, anyway. You're a handsome boy, so calm down.  Remember just make conversation like you usually would if you weren't thinking about it. Now go get her," he encouraged me.

"Thanks," I said before I turned around and opened the door, both of us walking out.

We sat down at our desks and I started working.
I resisted the urge to start at her face again, so I just looked at the deviant cases.
