"I honestly can't thank you enough Yuri, I don't know what I would have done without you."

Victor pulled Yuri into an embrace but Yuri just stood there frozen, he genuinely couldn't remember the last time he'd been hugged and he wasn't sure he really liked the sensation. Eventually, the taller boy let go and allowed Yuri some space to breathe though he just stood there stunned.

"I-i've got to go home. I'll see you around?"

"Of course, can I walk with you?" Victor grinned skipping happily to catch up with the younger boy as he started to leave.

"I doubt we'll be walking the same way." He replied bluntly.

Victor gave a pout then realised something. He unzipped his bag and pulled the scarf back out, "Here, please take it. It's cold and dark outside, you need to keep warm."

Yuri looked at the scarf, then up to Victor's hopeful eyes, "Fine...thank you." He took the scarf and then wrapped it snug around his neck, he inhaled deeply and sighed a little as Victor's scent filled his nose. God he hoped the taller boy didn't notice.

They walked in silence until they reached the school gates and looked out at the dimly lit streets.

"Bye," Victor called out, waving as he began to walk down the street.

"Bye," Yuri whispered back, too quietly for Victor to hear before he started to make his own way home, taking every opportunity to avoid dark alleyways or places he knew wouldn't be safe when dark; Even if it was only 5.

When he finally reached the small ugly brick house he pulled his key from his pocket and delicately pushed it into the lock, careful not to make a sound. The stench of alcohol hit him like a wall as he entered and to Yuri's relief, his dad was passed out drunk in the living room with the TV blaring out. He took this as an opportunity and dashed upstairs, changing into something more comfortable before sitting up at his desk to complete today's assignments.

~Big old time skip~

The bell rang, marking the end of first period and Yuri made his way out of class and towards his locker, taking out his folder and preparing to make his way to his usual spot.

"Hey you!" a shout came from behind the boy and as he turned he saw a pair of angry eyes fixed on him. Yuri couldn't help but give out an annoyed sigh, what could that bitch possibly want?

Abruptly she stormed up to him, her fists clenched with rage and Yuri suddenly hoped she hadn't noticed him sigh. She really was quite intimidating now she was up close and he couldn't help but slouch a little and lower his head. "H-hey Sofia. What brings you here?"

"Well..." She started, forcing a smile, however, failing miserably at concealing the anger in her voice, "a little birdy told me that Victor missed our date last night because he had detention. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that would you?" She crossed her arms and started tapping her foot waiting for the boy's response, but it didn't come. There was no way out of this one; Victor had been given detention for not doing the homework that he had paid Yuri to do. You can't change the facts.

"I...ummm..."

"That's what I thought," she replied, seething with anger as she threw a punch and hit Yuri straight in the jaw; damn it hurt. He was thrown back towards the lockers, hitting his head on the cold metal, and causing his grip to falter on the large folder in his hand. It hit the floor with a loud bang and pieces of paper flew out of it, covering the floor in a blanket of white.

Yuri's eyes began to well with tears, but he blinked them back as slid down so he was sitting at the base of the lockers. His jaw stung like a bitch and a crowd began to form around the two parties involved.

The brown haired bitch looked pretty content with the outcome; that was until a certain blue-eyed male appeared, pushing his way through the crowd, but instead of seeing if his girlfriend was ok, he immediately rushed and kneeled down in front of the dazed raven-haired boy with a swollen jaw.

He turned around and growled at the girl, "What did you do?!"

"What did I do?! He ruined our plans for last night! I was just giving him a piece of my mind." She sneered in return.

Victor then turned his attention back to the boy, not wanting to deal with his crazy girlfriend any longer, "Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Yuri replied and began to stand back up. He smiled apologetically at Victor, "I'm sorry about yesterday, I didn't know you had plans."

"It doesn't matter, it wasn't your fault."

The small boy winced slightly as the larger male raised his hand and brushed his fingers gently over his swollen jaw. Victor couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt as he saw the giant purple bruise forming on the side of his face and felt his face heat up slightly at what he just did.

An awkward moment passed and by this time the crowd had dispersed so eventually they both kneeled down to pick up the scattered papers. Then Victor heard an angry Sofia run off in a strop, "Ahh...I'm sorry about all this Yuri, but she's my girlfriend and I should go make sure she's ok." He looked up however couldn't tell Yuri's thoughts when he said that, but he got up anyway and left the small boy to finish picking up the papers on his own.
