~ They slipped briskly, into an intimacy from which they never recovered~

" I need a gift from you, my birthday gift", Nandini spoke and Manik stood rooted to his spot. This was the first time since he had known her that she had asked something from him, that too from the upfront. A smile made its way on his face.

"You don't need to ask me. Just tell me what is it and you will have it...", Manik answered holding her hands yet again and she came a step more closer.

" I don't find your intentions right, Mrs Malhotra", Manik encircled her waist and raised a eyebrow. Nandini laughed. That heart warming, melodious laughter.

" Your hands are all over me in a place with 50 odd waitors looking at us and smiling, and you don't find my intentions right?", She smirked and he laughed at her answer, embarrassed and blushing all at once.

"Agreed. So let's go. There is a whole night waiting to let us know each Other's intentions", manik winked making Nandini laugh out loud.

" Sure husband. But first my gift", Nandini reminded him and he nodded at her as to ask what did she want.

Nandini smiled at him, a nervous glitter in her eyes. She held his right hand tight and dragged him to the center, where they had shared their dance. Manik was confused but Nandini took a deep breath before taking out their wedding ring out of his ring finger.

"Nandini?", Manik was now worried trying to decipher what she actually wanted to do. Nandini's face was still solemn, she was still deciding what to say and how to say. Manik on the other hand, was scared. Very scared. Nandini, looked at his face and took two steps back from him. Manik's herat was beating loudly in his chest, his own beats audible to him. But when he was prepared for the worst Nandini came with something totally unexpected to him.

She went down on a knee and held on the ring in front of him.

" Mr. Manik Malhota, when that day we met at the book shop I had no idea you would stay forever. Usually, no one does. But then, I realized you are different. Special.", She started speaking and a small blush came on Manik's cheeks. Nandini chuckled.

"You came and I started being excited for the day. You brought back the sense of adventure in me. I never accepted it but you were the major reason I remained stuck with that library. I was afraid I won't be able to meet you otherwise. And then you proposed me. I was bewildered. And you not only convinced me, you also gave me the happiest memories I could even ask for. You made me feel loved, wanted and everything else I thought doesn't exist. You brought to earth a live fairy tale, for me. And I am really glad I am your wife. None could love me the way you have loved me....", Nandini continued and Manik smiled.

"Nandini, ask na directly. I can't tolerate so much cheesse and butter...", He teased her and she gave him a glare.

"Manik!",She showed him eyes and he somehow made a serious face.

" But your love had made me greedy.  So I want something more. I am hoping you won't deny me..", Nandini bit her lip and Manik smiled at her, before going down on his knees in front of her. Both sat on their knees, on the floor, in front of each other.

"Until it's something like moons and stars I promise I will fulfill all your wishes...", Manik promised her and she smiled.

"You know, when I had my belief in the white and black and not grey, I had always dreamt of a happy, perfect family. But with all that greyness peeping in to say hello and later as it stayed permanently, my dream shattered down, into many many pieces. I thought it was lost but you collected those lost fragments for me, and now I want to fulfill my dream again. I want to be happy not only as a person, but also as a part of a family.
So, Mr husband, will you complete it for me? Will you gift me a happy, perfect family?", Nandini finished her monologue, only to find Manik in tears. He didn't reply but hugged her intimately.

For the first time ever, like the many other firsts of the night, Nandini for the first time had voiced her insecurities over the family. Manik didn't have words to say. It was needless to mention that he would obviously fulfill her dream with whatever it takes.

"I can't promise you a perfect life, Nandini. After all happiness lies in imperfections. But I promise, whatever it takes, I won't let your dream shatter this time. You will have your dream come true. You will have the happy family. I promise...", Manik somehow managed to speak, still holding her in embrace not ready to let her go. The entire hotel staff started clapping as Nandini put the ring in his finger again, both of them blushing, like two tomatoes. Manik looked at her and offered her a dance again, and she obliged, dancing to the steps without any music. And yet their hearts beat in sync, creating enough of music for them.

After a happy time, they finally thanked the staff and came out of the restaurant, walking hand in hand

After a happy time, they finally thanked the staff and came out of the restaurant, walking hand in hand. Nandini was silent but there was a satisfied smile on her face and a shine Manik had never seen before. It seemed like all her restlessness was now put to rest and she was genuinely contented.

Manik was just watching her, as they walked to the car and Nandini who wa well aware of his gaze, avoided looking in his eyes

Manik was just watching her, as they walked to the car and Nandini who wa well aware of his gaze, avoided looking in his eyes.

" Manik! Stop looking at me like that!", Nandini scolded him as they settled in the car.

"Aree! My eyes are automatically getting fixed on your face. I am not doing anything", Manik raised both is hands in an excuse making her laugh yet again.

"Focus on the drive!", She instructed again.

"I am. 30%. Rest 70% focus is on a beauty accompanying me...", He winked.

" Manik, it's getting extra cheesy now. Stop with this", she made a bad face and looked outside the window.
Manik tried talking to her but she maintained a grumpy face, so that he could drive properly. Finally when they reached, manik came out and opened the door for her. Nandini came out but still had a grumpy face on.

"Aree, ab toh muskura de, tera hero aa gya h", Manik winked yet again, and she slapped him on the chest, trying to ignore the rosiness that erupted on her cheeks.
(Laugh now atleast, your hero have come over).

Nandini had never been happier. Manik had never been merrier. And both had never been in so much of love as they were now!💝💝
