Reader x Child!Eren: Lullaby

I know, I know. When's a "Lover!Eren" chapter? Well, that, my friend, I do not know :P

Warning: Eren's an orphan.

You held Eren close while the child cried softly. You were taking care of the child, he no longer has a family. You had signed papers and claimed yourself as Eren's guardian.

Eren's family was involved in a car accident one stormy night, his father, mother and adopted sister all died except for him. And since then, you took care of Eren.

It was a traumatic experience, every time it stormed, Eren would wake up crying for his family. You hated seeing the child in pain. You did your best calming the child. And a lullaby was the most effective one.

You sat up from your bed, one stormy night, when you heard cries and yells. You ran towards Eren's bedroom and opened the door. You ran up to the terrified crying child on the bed. You picked him up and hugged him.

"Shh... Shh... It's okay, Eren. (y/n)'s here." You cooed as you gently caressed the latter's mop of hair. Eren continued to sob.

"Was it about your family again, Eren?" you whispered softly, Eren nodded meekly.

"N-not... just...t...them.." Eren sniffled, "y-you were in t-the a...acident t-too. Y-you were...g...gone!"

You sighed and kissed his forehead, "I'm not going anywhere, Eren." you reassured the child.

"Y-you're...not?"

"Nope, and I promise. Now, let's go to my bedroom. You want a lullaby, no?" you smiled, Eren nodded.

You walked back to your bedroom and gently placed Eren on your bed, you tucked him in and sat in front of the piano in your room.

You played a few notes before you sang,

Little child, be not afraid,
Though rain pounds harshly againts the glass
like an unwanted stranger, there is no danger
I am here tonight

though thunder explodes and lightning flash
illuminates your tear-stained face

And someday you'll know
that nature is so
the same rain that draws you near me
falls on rivers and land
on forests and sand
makes the beautiful world that you'll see, in the morning

For you know, once even I was a little child, and I was afraid
but a gentle someone always came to dry all my tears, trade sweet sleep for fears
and give a kiss goodnight

Well now I am grown
and these years have shown
that rain's a part of how life goes but it's dark and it's late so I'll hold you and wait till your frightened eyes do close

Everything's fine in the morning
the rain will be gone in the morning
but I'll still be here in the morning

You finished the song with a final note, you smiled when Eren was fast asleep and the rain had stopped pouring. You got up and stretched before you joined Eren and slept tight.
