Nancy and Sluggo had been big fans of Debbie Reynolds, and so her passing was sad for both of them. Sluggo was doing research on Ms. Reynolds, and was pleased to discover that she was a devotee of tiptoeing.

In the January 1967 issue of Leader magazine, Reynolds explained the almost magical powers that she could achieve while tiptoeing. When asked for an example, Debbie had been reluctant to say more, but a group of her fans came forward and said that during the filming of one of her movies, where Debbie was required to cross a stream to save a group of cuddly animals from a monster, that Ms. Reynolds could tiptoe across the stream without getting her feet wet. Not only were the cuddly animals saved, but they spent the rest of their lives taking tiptoe lessons from Debbie.

When Sluggo told Nancy about this, they decided to create a new tiptoe ballet, based on the life of Debbie Reynolds.
