Chapter 54

(No General P.O.V.)

"This is not a game show. This, is Silent Library." The host speaks loudly, indicating that it is time for the group to start walking out. Tyler enters first, followed by Josh, Mark, Jenna, Abby-Lynn, and Zach, Tyler's brother.

They all sit down at the table. Josh sits down next to the lever, Abby beside him, and Mark on the edge. On the other side, Tyler sits across from Mark, then it's Jenna, and Zach is across from Josh.

"Round one. Each turn is worth $300. The most important rule: Silence! Begin."

Abby takes a shaky breath as Josh grins at her. He squeezes her leg for encouragement while Tyler places the cards in a line, evilly smirking at everyone. Tyler counts off quietly, and on three everyone quickly snatches a card.

Zach and Josh fight over one card, but Josh let's him have it. Mark slides down a card to Josh, who is bouncing in his seat. Everyone flips their cards over and it takes everything in Josh not to jump up and laugh at Zach, who has the skull card.

Josh pulls the lever and as everyone watches, Zach nearly falls out of his seat with anticipation. It lands on Beard Brush and Zach literally gets tears in his eyes.

"Can I just die instead of playing?" He whispers, pouting at everyone while they try not to laugh. Everyone is escorted to a different table for this one. Zach sits down in a chair and waits patiently, looking like a little kid waiting for his punishment.

The door opens and we all watch as a tall man with a straggly beard walks in, brushing it with his fingers. He stands in front of Zach and looks down at him with an expressionless face. That is, until he reaches into his pocket to pull out tooth paste, then his face turns into an evil grin. Zach whimpers, frowning. Everyone watches with disgust as the man rubs toothpaste all in his beard.

"Open wide, Sweetie." Is all the man warns before grabbing Zachs head and rubbing his beard all over Zachs face. Abby gags in disgust and buried her head in Josh's chest, who watches with an amusing smile. Tyler is jumping around with his hand in his mouth to block out any noise he makes. Jenna has her hands over her eyes, her stomach too upset to watch. Mark just stands in the corner and watches with a smile.

A loud ringing sounds, and the man releases Zach who just stares into space. The man walks away and everyone goes to pay Zach on the back, avoiding his face.

"Baby come back." Zach jokes, reaching his hand out to the mans back. Little did he know, he said it really loud and the man turns around with a wide grin and quickly starts marching back to him, causing everyone to jump away from Zach. "I was kidding omg." He quickly rushes out, and he zips his mouth shut until the man leaves.

The host announces that they win $300 after they all sit back down, and everyone grin at Zach who pounds on his chest. Once again, everyone sorts out the cards. This time, everyone is on edge, terrified of getting the card. At the count off, everyone snatches up a card quicker than ever.

Mark looks at his card, all hope leaving his soul as he looks at his fateful skull card. Tyler falls out of his chair, laughing quietly. Abby-Lynn pats Mark gently on the back, offering a small smile. Josh pulls the lever and Mark puts his head down, not ready to know what awaits him.
