Chapter 33

"I'm a goner. Somebody catch my breath. I wanna be known by you." I'm in the bathroom, sitting in the shower where  I've been for the last twenty minutes.

"Though I'm weak, and beaten down, I'll slip away into the sound." I haven't even washed my hair, I'm just sitting here, singing.

"Abby, baby please come out." Josh says through the door. Ever since I stopped breathing he has been more paranoid than ever, afraid to leave me alone.

"I need your help to take him out." I am crying, thankful for the water to wash it away.

"Don't let me be gone..." I stare at the door. His shadow is still showing underneath the crack of the door. "Don't let me be gone..."

"Abby." His voice sounds so pained.

"Don't let me be gone.." I stand up. Grabbing the towel, I put my hair in s ponytail.

"I'm a goner, somebody catch my breath." I open the door, still humming.

"I wanna be known by you." Josh wraps his arms around me, bringing me closer to his body. I watch as my hair drips onto his shirt.

Josh doesn't say anything, just leads me to my bag to gather my clothes and turns around while I change. I notice now, that he wasn't as panicky as before, and relief washes through me.

As soon as I finish pulling up my shorts, the door flies open and in struts Jenna with a Tyler following close behind her. They both go into the mini fridge and grab a drink out of it.

Everyone starts talking and laughing, including me. With everyone, it's just so easy to forget about what's been going on. I go over to Josh and sit next to him, laying my head on his shoulder. He smiled at me and kisses my forehead.

"How dare you say that, Joshua! You're out of the band." Tyler shrieks after Josh tells a story about younger Tyler. Josh stands up and points at him.

"No, you're out of the band!" He yells, poking Tyler's chest.

"No!"

"Yes!" They start 'hitting' each other, the kind where they're basically just slapping hands. They both have looks of desperation on their faces with it becoming more dramatic the longer they try not to smile.

Jenna is in on the couch with me, recording them on her phone with a silly grin on her face. With her free hand, she reaches down and squeezes my hand.

'I wanna be known by you.' This is my family now. We need each other to grow. I need them to heal.
