It's about 12:30 when the concert officially ends, and Josh and I are in his dressing room, lounging around.
"You almost ready, babe?" He asks, slipping on another shirt since his other one was covered in sweat, I nod and smile, pulling out my phone. I go over to a mirror and drag Josh with me. He wraps his arms around my waist, holding me in front of him, and we both make silly faces as I take a picture.
"That's Twitter worthy." He pats my hip and goes to get his keys. As he is walking away, I snap a picture of his butt, mentally crying when I hear the camera make a noise. He looks at me and raises his eyebrow, shaking his head at me. That one is for my eyes and my eyes only.
'@AbbyLynnWins- Date night with the drummer dude.' I grin, tagging him in it. Instantly, my notifications fill up, but one catches my eyes. 'Joshuadun tagged you in a photo.' Looking at him with squinty eyes, I look at it. It's a photo from earlier, before hide and seek where we both were clothed in black, and serious looks on our faces.
'@JoshuaDun- such a great day with a lil munchkin. Have a great birthday baby girl.'
I blush and walk over to Josh, a grin on my face. He wraps his arms around me, kissing the tip of my nose.
"Happy birthday, Abby." He whispers, grabbing my hand and pulling me outside.
~~~~~
"Is there anything specific you want for your birthday? We can also do anything we want. There's no concert tonight." Josh rambles on as he drives, fingers tapping away to the beat in his head.
"I don't need anything. As long as I can spend the day with you all will be good." I just stare at him while he drives; he looks so concentrated. It's absolutely adorable. His eyes are a little squinty, and his tongue is poking out to the side.
"I want you to have a great birthday." He whispers, so quiet that if I wasn't watching him I wouldn't of known he talked. Leaning over to his side of the car, I kiss his cheek. Going back to my side, I put my hand in his shoulder and rub gently as he drives.
He relaxes, his back suddenly not so stiff. He takes a deep breath and sighs, content. Glancing over at me, he gives a small smile.
"It's already going to be a great birthday, don't worry." He bursts out into a smile when I say this, shaking his head to try to clear it away. God, he is so cute.
"Jishawa."
"Hm?"
"Can I please go on that playground." I whisper as we drive by it, hands and face pressed against the window. It looks like such fun to go on at 12:45 in the morning.
"That's actually where I was taking us." He laughs, pulling over to park in the parking lot. I squeal and blush covers my face as Josh laughs. Reaching into the back, he pulls out two jackets, one for me and one for him. "Wouldn't want you catching a cold on your birthday."
Hand in hand, we walk/skip towards the slides. Climbing to the top, we prepare to go down the biggest slide together. He sits down in front, while I wrap my legs around his waist.
"This is so dangerous. Ready?" His eyes gleam with adventure and I nod, pushing off. We start out slow, but quickly gain pace as we get closer to the bottom. Noticing that we may not be able to stop near the end, I let go of his waist, so I don't hurt either of us.
Seconds later we are both on the ground, laughing our asses off. He gets up first, dusting himself off while I lay in my back to stare up at the sky.
"Every night in my birthday, I would lay on my roof and just stare up at the sky. Counting the stars for hours." I tell Josh before standing up to grab his hand. "After we finish playing you should lay with me." He nods, kissing my hand.
We go on everything on the playground, from the slides to the monkey bars. Now, we are on the swings, trying to see who could go higher. So far, Josh is winning.
As he goes back up, he jumps off, landing on his feet. I watch as he bows, thanking the nonexistent crowd for watching. Rolling my eyes, I jump off too, landing right next to him. Looking at me, he pouts.
~
"Tell me about your favorite thing on the playground." I whisper, causing Josh to pull me closer as we look up at the stars. Rolling onto my side, I look at him as he talks.
"My favorite thing? The monkey bars. Not only could you climb them and test your strength, but you can also lay on them or do anything really. Very diverse." I roll my eyes at him, laying my head on his chest.
He plays with my hair, which honestly is putting me to sleep. A couple of minutes pass before he talks again.
"I honestly want this to be your best birthday, Abby-Lynn. I am willing to give you the world." He starts off with a normal speaking tone, but I have to strain to hear what he says at the end. Luckily, I do hear him, every word. I tighten my grip that I have on his shirt, and look up at him.
"I know we haven't known each other in person too long, but I've known you for a long time on your social media. Maybe that's how we got so close so quickly, because I wasn't afraid to talk around you I person cause I already knew you." He blushes when he realizes he is rambling, but I urge him to continue, smiling softly at him.
"I like you, Abby. And it fills me with joy having you on tour with us. I want to know if... Youdbemygirlfriend?" He quickly says the end, and I bite my lip, knowing what he said. Pulling him up so we are both sitting down, I sit in front of him.
"What was that last part?" I whisper, my face close to his. My hands are draped around his neck, eyes focused deeply on his.
"Will you be mine?" He whispers, his eyes shimmering with hope. I don't bother to fight the smile off of my face, and I nod. Now it's his turn to smile, and it's my favorite kind of smile on him. The one that reaches his eyes, causing him to squint. Josh pulls me in for a kiss, a passionate one.
Drummer boy finally got the courage to ask me out.
