Chapter Sixteen
I woke up abruptly and wiped the drool from the corner of my mouth, turning the clock on my desk towards me so I could see the time. I squinted to see the numbers more clearly: 2:30 am
Well, no wonder I'm so tired. I stood up slowly and rubbed my eyes. I'm so tired, how am I suppose to drive home?I'll find a way. Even though I'm not even that good of a driver even when I'm alert and I've gotten into multiple car accidents... Yeah, I should be fine.
I made my way out of the office and it was really dark and freaky looking. Everyone was gone home so it was just a dark and deserted hall way, so I started to whistle a happy song until I remembered that I can't whistle, so I hummed. I walked quickly out the door, locked it, and walked to the elevator. I pressed the button for the main floor and it started on it's journey down the building. It came to a sudden stop with a loud thud and I felt immediately sick to my stomach. Oh great, I'm going to die in here. I pressed the alarm button and curled up into a little ball in the corner. I felt my eye lids start slowly shutting,
"Kimberly." I heard a deep voice boom and I looked up not knowing where it was coming from,
"God?" I questioned and I heard a sigh.
"Well, you can call me Jake." he said,
"Oh, Mr. Roland! Your voice sounds so much deeper over the intercom. I have to admit, I am SO relieved you're here... Wait, why are you here anyway?" I asked and I heard some rustling on the intercom.
"Move out of the way, douchebag! Kimmy?" I heard Robin's worried voice say and I chuckled,
"Hey Rob." I sighed with a smile,
"Oh don't you be all breezy and cool with me, I was worried sick! You know what time it is? Do you? Do... What time is it, Jake?" she whispered,
"2:50"
"It is 2:50! And I have not been able to sleep, or reach you or- or- oh my god... You have a pinball machine in here!? Bad ass!" she exclaimed, and I sighed waiting for the next voice to come on.
"You two really are a special, aren't you?" he chuckled and I rolled my eyes,
"Oh yes, yes, we really have an adorable friendship- Get me the hell out of here!" I yelled,
"Right! Right, hold on a second, I should be able to get it running again by pressing a certain button..." he muttered and didn't sound quite certain of what he was doing.
"Please tell me that there isn't a certain button you can push that'll make the elevator explode." I sighed,
"Of course there isn't! There isn't right?Of course there isn't!" he whispered to someone and I found that to be less than reassuring.
"Who are you talking to now?" I asked,
"Only Robin, she seems to know how elevators work..." he said and my eyes went wide.
"You're leaving this up to Robin?! Robin doesn't know how keys and locks work!" I exclaimed in frustration.
"Whoa there, Missy! You know what? I think after that I may just have to leave you in there for a while to think about what you just said because-",
"No! No, please? I'm sorry! I'm sorry... Just please, get me out of here, I'm starting to feel claustrophobic." I said and she sighed.
"Alright... But it's logical you know, there are SO many different houses in the world how can there be THAT many different keys, I just don't get how-",
"Robin!" I shouted,
"Oh don't get your panties in a twist I'm pressing the button. Hopefully it's the right one. If not, I would like to apologize in advance for your death... and I'll take care of your annoying ass little dog." she mumbled and I scoffed,
