3 Years

I see you passing in the street

And think to call your name

It's been three years by now but still

You somehow look the same

Is Criminal Minds your favorite show?

How is your sister's cat?

Your hockey team, it's doing well?

When did you buy a flat?

Are you in your dream career?

Do you miss game night?

Have you been getting any sleep?

Are you still so polite?

The questions burn inside my mind-

I let my body freeze

I do not make a single sound-

My heart begins to squeeze

Instead I let you go again

Until you disappear

Trying to convince myself

You were not really here

What good can come from seeing me-

Or what's upon my finger?

For though I have moved on by now

I fear your feelings linger

Thus I pause and take a breathe

Walking out the door

Saying farewell to the man

I don't know anymore
