"This must be the place." Mom turns to face me and Rory.
She was driving us to the baby shower to drop us off and then she was going to go shopping.
"I think the balloons confirm it." Rory says
"No pink, no blue." Mom points out
"All green." I state, confused.
"Aren't baby shower balloons supposed to reflect the sex of the baby — Blue for boys, pink for girls?"
"You would think." Rory and me agree
"What is green for?" Mom asks
"Aliens?" I joke
"We'll ask."
"We're all set right? Anytime either of you want out, just send up a flare." Mom states
"We will." I confirm
"Even if I'm half naked in a changing room, I'll just grab everything and rush out." Mom exaggerates
"You making a half naked entrance would be funny." I laugh
"Hi!" Sherry exclaims as she pops her head through the window of the car.
"Whoa!" I shout
"Oh, I'm sorry. I totally snuck up on you." Sherry apologizes
"It's okay. Hi." I say
"Hi, tori. Hi, Rory." She looks to see Rory in the back seat. "Lorelai, I'm so excited you came."
"Oh, I'm just dropping these two off." Mom explains
"Oh, don't go, stay." Sherry encourages
"What?" Mom questions
"Come to the party, please."
"Oh, I don't know." Mom smiles, awkwardly.
"I know that you weren't invited, but it's cause my friends didn't think you'd be comfortable. I told them not to worry." Sherry justifies
"Thanks, I'm not dressed for it." Mom makes up and excuse.
"Oh, please, you look fine." Sherry smiles
"Well, um..." mom looks at me as I was in the front seat.
"Um... Mom kind of had plans." I say
"I got a couple credit cards burning a hold in my wallet."
"Oh, go shopping some other time, and come play with us. Please. There's just a bunch of people in there that the girls don't know. Having you here would make them so much more comfortable." Sherry continues
"We don't mind not knowing anyone, really. We've got each other." Rory explains
"That's nice, honey, but not very convincing. Lorelai, I meant to extend the invitation to both of you. I just wasn't sure if you'd — you know, there's lots of food and booze for the lucky, non pregnant ones — and cake. It'll be fun." Sherry persuades
"Well..." mom pauses
"I'll block your car with my stomach." Sherry tells her
"No, don't do that!"
"Please. It would mean so much." Sherry tells mom
"Well, um, okay. Sure." Mom agrees whilst looking at me and Rory.
"Really?"
"Yeah, let's have a party." Mom fake smiles
"Yay!" Sherry jumps up and down.
