Chapter twenty-three, Her lover's return

" Lumos"

The wand tip was lit a bright white light guided me through the darkness and feel on a large tree in front of me unmistakably marked by a bloody hand print, my breathing became more intense as i place my own hand above it, it was still wet,

BANG!!!

Howling and screaming filled the air again, my feet and ears were leading me towards the sounds now and I tried to ignore the scattered pieces of clothing torn on branches and blood becoming thicker and thicker on the ground, I sprinted to a halt nearly sliding down the slope toward an opening of tree which revealed a moonlight lake and twelve or so Mongrels lay dead in front of a beautifully carved statue with wings that hovered above her glistening black scaled body which was hunched over clutching her shoulder which looked as if the tough scales protecting her skin had torn it away bloody and broken, I watched her fall to ground and I didn't hesitate to rush towards her, it was worse up close, her skin looked as if it had been ripped apart is come places, a massive chunk was missing from her right horn and her wings looked batted and torn, her body seemed to struggle against the rock she was leaning on and I pulled her towards me, I was on knees, holding her limp body, she couldn't be dead she couldn't me, I just got here

"Hey, wake up"

I shook her in my arms and moved her hair out of her face, she was so beautiful even though she was covered in blood her face reminded me of a goddess I read about in a Greek poem, she was breathing and her eyes fluttering and my heart began to race 'oh thank Merlin she's live'

"Sebastian?"

It was like my very soul left my body, did she just say my name, but that impossible how could she- "Sebastian... is that... is that really you?"

Her hand touched the side of my face and her thumb stroking my cheek

"It's me.. but how do you-" did you really think I'd willing let my father destroy my memories of you"

"But Ominis told me" she chuckled coughing slightly and adjusted her position so she look at me properly, I was warned I was hurting her because she seized the side of her waist and whimpered

"Here let me" I pulled her off the ground and into my arms allowing her to rest against me, I felt her warm body lean against my beating chest, I could feel her heart, it was weak

"Thank you" she took a deep breath

"I found a way to trick my father into thinking I'd forget you, yes he removed every single memory of you, but what he didn't know was that I had planned to regain it all back in less then an hour"

I looked at her confused by was more concerned that her heart rate was less then normal and that her breathing was sharp as she took another breath

"I recovered everything all our memories together the good, the bad and the well the most important memories" she smiled weakly and arched her back slightly, she wings and tail recoiled into her skin and the scales disappeared, leaving her naked in my arms, she shook slightly

"Here take my cloak"

I pulled off my cloak and pulled it over her shoulders trying to cover her up

"Thank you"

She closed her eyes and took another deep breath

"Hey, stay with me okay, you need to stay awake okay"

She smiled and lifted her hand up to stroke the side of my head, I could feel her finger tips dig into my hair and it gave me goosebumps

"What have they done to my Seb" she whispered, tears ran down my face and fell on her chest, I felt myself pulling her towards me, nine months I had been denied to see my beautiful goddess to touch her to hold her in my arms and now I felt my heart break as I felt hers getting weaker and weaker,

"I've missed you" I whispered our foreheads pressed against each other

I wanted to give her everything breath I took as I felt hers slipping away I wanted to reach into her chest and restart her heart

"I missed you too" she was struggling to speak, I felt her body become more and more weaker as she breathed each one feeling like her last

"Please stay with me, there's so much I need to tell you please"

"Sebastian"

I could see it in her eyes that now filled with tears, she was leaving this world and i pressed my forehead against hers again holding her tightly into my arms refusing to let her leave me

"I can't, I've lost so much, my sister, my family, please your all I have, please ... I ... I love you... please don't leave"

I felt her hand fall away from my face and with he last remaining breath she whispered

"I love you too"
