Drowning

Lillian's pov:

Clara was a bit tired so I picked her up. Maria said her bedtime was around 9, I thought that was a little late for her but it is their rule.

Clara and I were currently watching tv. She wanted to watch Dora. She laughed a few times and it was the cutest laugh I ever heard. It sounded playful with no worry.

I was wondering who sended me that message. Was it her mom, dad,...? It definitely wasn't her grandma. She would never send a rude message like that.

I heard a little snore, I looked down to see Clara sleeping on me. It was so cute. I decided to take a picture and send it to the anonymous person.

Lillian: You have a very cute, tired girl :)

I got no response back...

I tried to carefully get up so she wouldn't wake her up. Once I got up I walked to the stairs. I hope they don't make a lot of noise. I took every step very carefully.

I finally got upstairs but I forgot where her room was. It was definitely on the left but there were a lot of rooms. I walked to the closest one.

I opened the door, it was pitch black. I turned the light on to see an empty room. I walked to the next room. It was a huge room, it was again all black. It had a huge bed. Her parents must sleep here. I looked at the two other rooms but one looked like an office and the other had a lock on it. The last door was hopefully her bedroom. I opened the door to see her room, I was a bit relieved that I found it. I walked her to her bed and laid her in there. When I came here she was already in pajamas so I didn't need to change her. I kissed her goodnight and closed the door silently.

I wanted to explore the other rooms but that would feel like I was invading their privacy.

I had all the space to myself, I didn't know who was going to be home, when they were going home. It was all a big question mark. I hope they are here soon, I'm tired and have school tomorrow.

I walked downstairs to the living room where I left my books for school. I had a history test tomorrow and didn't do anything this week.

I looked outside and saw a beautiful sunset. I loved sunsets, especially in Italy. They were so beautiful. Every time I saw it, I took a picture. My phone probably has thousands of pictures of sunsets. I even had to delete a few apps to make storage.

I went to the couch to study and read a bit.

After almost two hours of studying I was pretty tired and wanted to sleep. I hope they are going to be here soon so I can sleep.

It was around twelve, I got off the couch to check on Clara. I walked upstairs and took the last door, I knew which door it was.

I opened the door and went inside. Her blanket was laying on the floor, so I picked it up and put it back on her. She let out a little snore and I laughed. She was so beautiful. I wonder where her eyes came from, dad or mom. So bright and big. I kissed her again before walking back to the door.

I opened the door, walked out and tried to close it very quietly.
"Is she asleep?" I jumped up and turned around, I was breathing hard. I laid my hand on my chest from the jump scare .

There was a tall man standing in front of me. It was dark in the hallway so I couldn't see much. I looked up and saw these blue eyes. Our eyes locked with each other. His eyes were so bright that I thought I was drowning in them.

"Is she sleeping?" he said with a low voice "Who?" I forgot everything for a moment. "My daughter", his voice sounded so rough. "Yeah, I just checked on her, her blanket fell off."
"I am Lillian, I assume you are her dad" I wanted to shake his hand but his hands remained in his pockets. "I know who you are and yes she is my daughter." He looked like he had a rough night, there was no emotion in his face and voice. It felt like talking to a robot.

"You are?" I asked, still not knowing his name. "Like I texted, it doesn't matter, you can leave now." My head was full with questions but I had the feeling that if I was going to stay here any longer I would be killed by his eyes.

I walked down the stairs, grabbed my stuff and left the house.

What a rude man.
