Lucia's POV

I lead Law to Whitebeard's cabin. We are both silent on the way. I stop in front of the huge door and knock. Law stays close behind me. So close that it makes me uncomfortable. "Come in!" says Whitebeard. I open the door and say, "Hello father, do you have a moment?" I hear Law snorting behind me. Whitebeard nods at me and I walk into the cabin, followed by Law. "Remember that rookie I mentioned? That's him and he's agreed to help us." Law stands next to me and looks at the emperor. He turns to me and says, "I need his medical records." Why does he always turn to me? I look at the nurse who is bumbling around Whitebeard. "Ask her!" I say, pointing at the pink honky-tonk. Law just snorts and looks at me. "You're a real handful!" I sigh and walk towards the nurse. "Can I have Whitebeard's medical records, please?" I ask the blonde woman. She just looks at me disparagingly. She throws her hair back and says arrogantly, "Only the doctor and medical staff are allowed to see the file!" I roll my eyes and say sweetly, "Then you should get the doctor!" She is about to hiss at me, but I wave my hand and say, "Less talking, more walking!" I smile at her and she walks past me, not without ramming me. Nice!

She gives Law a lascivious look as she passes before leaving. "I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit!" I remark. "Lucia!" I hear Whitebeard's stern voice. "I'm sorry, Father!" I say, not really feeling guilty. I hear Law's dark laugh. Whitebeard is now looking closely at Law, who in turn is looking at Whitebeard. "Um I think I'll go back to Ace!" I say and I'm about to leave the room, but as I walk past Law he grabs me firmly by the upper arm. "You're not going anywhere until our deal is done." Whitebeard looks at me questioningly.

"Imagine on a ship it's not so easy to escape anywhere. So I'll stick around, no need to keep an eye on me," I say, annoyed with the pirate. One can also overdo it with mistrust. Law looks at me darkly and I sigh in surrender. "Well, I'll stay here until you're done, then I'll tell you what I know." Law continues to hold me and I think I see a spark of curiosity in his eyes. I'm about to break away, but the door just swings open. In walks Ace, who immediately looks at Law's hand in my arm. I'm about to explain the situation when Ace yanks Law's arm off my arm and pushes me behind him. Ace growls at Law and Law has his hand on his sword. I quickly push myself between the two of them. "Take it easy. It's all right." I say in a clear voice. I put my hand to Ace's chest, sending him a calming sensation. Ace's body relaxes and he leans against the wall. "If we get any more here, even Dad's cabin will be cramped," I say jokingly. Whitebeard watches the whole thing quietly. I walk over to Ace and lean against the wall next to him.

We wait a while, in silence, until the doctor comes in and he is followed by Marco. "So much for quiet," I hear Law murmur. I lean on Ace's arm and hide my grin on his upper arm. Poor Law, he's got nothing under control. I can feel his burning gaze on me. But then the doctor demands Law's attention. I see the hope in Ace and Marco's eyes and I also put my hopes on Law. Law's gaze turns serious and he looks closely at the file. I grit my teeth so as not to interrupt.

I don't know how long we stand here waiting for Law to finish. "Mm." says Law then. We all notice and look up at Law. Law's gaze lingers on me and he says, "The deal is on?" he asks me and I feel Ace tense up next to me again. I nod and Law turns to Whitebeard. The latter doesn't seem particularly enthusiastic. "I need absolute silence. It may take a few hours." says Law and I want to leave the room. "Not you, I need your help." he says. I roll my eyes, Law is such a pedant. Ace wants to protest but Marco grabs him by the back of the neck and pushes him out of the room, protesting strongly. "And what do you want me to do, make sure the wall doesn't topple over?" I ask Law. "Stand where I can keep an eye on you," he says and manages his room. I quickly turn to face the wall, whatever happens now, I don't want to see it. I hear Law's amused snort.

"Child, wouldn't you rather sit down?" I hear Whitebeard ask me. I shake my head. Whitebeard laughs out loud. I'm literally standing my ground here right now. I'm tempted to turn around, but who knows what I'll see. I know Law's abilities, after all. I look through the porthole and see the sun moving on and on. "Done!" says Law, then finally exhausted. Turning around, I look at Law. He looks exhausted and looks richly pale. For a moment I look at Whitebeard, he looks the same as usual. I look at him and he nods to Law. "Come on you look exhausted!" I say to Law. I walk to the door and open it. Law follows me but has lost much of his vigour. Apparently he has wasted a lot of energy on healing. "Do you want a coffee?" I ask. He looks at me in surprise. "Well, you helped us, so one is allowed to be a little friendly," I explain.
