Patrick

Seeing my youngest daughter this way isn't something you ever get over and to think it was my own fault too if I never drove around visiting our old places
Then we would of never of been hit by Mason and I'm still unsure how we ran into him on that side of town

I always thought Mason was the best boyfriend that Riley had however how things went about with him and how he was being before the accident
I  was awake yesterday when Jonah came in for the check ups I'm just so fed up of seeing the same 4 white walls so I tried making myself fall asleep

Seeing James over the last few days and speaking to him to find everything out as to why he went quiet the last few weeks and hearing his side to the story
You can truly see that James does love Riley and he wants the best for her and seeing and hearing how it's been for him, I do understand as to why he went about it the way he did

It doesn't excuse what he did of course however I do see his side to things, he wanted to better himself for Riley and the babies
Seeing him so distraught over them all just shows that he does truly care and mean what he says

"Morning guys, I'm so sorry about last night but we have a nurse here that's able to do a scan on Riley to make sure these babies are okay" Jonah explains in a rushed tone
"It's alright Jonah, things happen" I softly say with a smile

They set everything up and the nurse gets started straight away causing James and I to watch the screen intensively
"That right there is one baby, I'm just going to check for the other one" the nurse explains "There's the second one, they look healthy so you are extremely lucky that Riley hit her side, it seemed that her body saved these babies" she continues

"Oh thank god for that" James sighs with relief before grabbing Riley's hand and planting a long kiss on the back of it
"That's such a relief" I say as I wipe a few tears off my face, I'm grateful my grandchildren are healthy and it gives me some hope that Riley will pull through

James walks over and embraces me into hug where we both let all the tears we've held back over the last few days come out
It was something we both needed to do

"Now all we need is for Riley to pull through" James says in between crying
"She will, Riley's a fighter" I reply
"Thank you for coming and doing the scan" James says to Jonah and the nurse

The nurse leaves with all the equipment leaving Jonah with us
"Jonah I heard you mention Masons room number, what happened?" James softly asked
"Well I can't disclose too much however Mason hasn't pulled through, he did pass away early hours of this morning" Jonah explains

"Oh.. I didn't expect that I'm so sorry for asking"  James says making Jonah leave us both alone with this new information
"At least he won't bother Riley anymore" I say
"That's true but I didn't think he would pass away" James replies looking over at Riley

"It's just us and our babies, no one else should try and come between us" James says before heading back over to Riley and placing his hand over her stomach looking at it in awe
