Double Standards

Today was the day of the competition and I was extremely nervous
James and I have spoken and seen each other since the other night however it feels like he's had his guard up again, James has also promised that he'll be with us today and if he sticks to his word then he'll be arriving at any minute now

I packed my bag last night so all I've got to do is put my outfit on and make myself some breakfast
I check the time for the last time before getting up and actually getting ready and seeing that the clock reads 5am makes me groan
There's one thing about me and that is I'm never a morning person and I don't think that'll ever change

I put on the black pair of shorts with the teams t-shirt and jacket with The Next Step written across it before fixing my hair into a ponytail and doing minimal makeup before heading to the kitchen
I make myself a fry up to try and get myself into a happier mood about being up so early

I make a little extra just incase James arrives soon and it's a good job I did as I hear a faint knock coming from the front door, I slowly open it to reveal a tired looking James who equally isn't happy he's awake so early causing me to chuckle
"I've made us breakfast" I say as we head into the kitchen
"Thank you" James mumbles as he starts making us both a coffee

We arrive at the place the competition is being held and it seems the drive there was all we needed for James and I to be back to how we used to be, which I'm extremely grateful for
James parks the car and helps with the bags before we head inside to check in and go up to our room

We unlock the door to 354 to find we have a room to ourselves with one double bed meaning we don't have to share with anyone
I text Michelle to see if anyone else is here yet and I get a response immediately telling us to come to 309 since that's where everyone was

Walking down James wraps his arm around me before letting out a sigh
"Im sorry I over reacted the other day, I know it isn't your fault if anyone else likes you" James explains before stopping us and turning me to face him
"It's okay, I would of got annoyed to if it was the other way around" I softly say with a smile making James do the same

I lean up to give James a kiss before we carry on going down to where the others were
"It seems like we've been walking forever" James sighs making me giggle at him
"It's alright we should be here now" I say pointing up at the room numbers and I was right 309 was right beside us

James knocks on the door and a very excited Michelle rips the door open before engulfing is both into the biggest hug and then dragging us inside the room before we could even respond
"Your room is so far away from everyone else" Michelle pouts
"I know I think it's because I joined the other week" I explain making Michelle nod her head

"Yeah I didn't think of that" Michelle says making us both laugh
"Is everyone here?" James asks
"No we're actually missing Luca" Michelle sighs
"I've tried contacting him and so has Miss Kate but neither of us have managed to get through" Michelle continues

"What does this mean about the duet" I ask hoping I'm still able to dance
"We'll have to find someone else to do it" Michelle says with a shrug of her shoulders
The excited Michelle we was greeted with quickly changed into a worried overthinking Michelle, I'm just glad I'm not dance captain otherwise I would be grey by this point

I look back at James to find him deep in his thoughts but he snaps out of it once he realises I'm looking at him, he pulls me closer to him giving me a much needed hug before whispering in my ear
"It'll all work out in the end, you'll get to dance"

I just hope Luca turns up or someone else is able to learn a dance within the next 3 hours but I don't know if that's possible
