The teen smiled as she gently dropped the book on the floor and turned off the lamp. She gave the cat a scratch before closing her eyes, readjusting her sister's position. The bambina mumbled as she moved, tightening her hold on Sarah. It wasn't long before Sarah felt herself falling asleep, fantasizing about what the future would bring for them.

Maya had finally gotten a hold of Mason. Once she had him on the phone, the two had arranged a playdate at their local park.

With his blessing, she invited the Grey-Sloan families and their kids. After all, it had been a while since all the adults had been together, and the kids missed one another, like cousins who hadn't seen each other in far too long. It was amazing how their bond worked, how much each kid valued one another

The day of the playdate arrived; since Carina was still sore from her surgery, Maya was apprehensive about it, but the Italian was stubborn as always, crankily insisting on continuing as planned.

"We made plans, we are going. And that's final," Carina declared grumpily, and Maya knew better than to argue.

It was a lovely warm Saturday morning. The birds were chirping, and the sun was peeking through the clouds. The air was warm and pleasant, and the bugs were out. They drove to the park, and as soon as the blonde had parked the car, Lucia burst out, running towards the structure.

Sarah jogged after her, while Maya gathered their things and helped Carina to their spot, which was under a tall oak tree. She laid their blanket down under the tree, and the Italian winced, the blonde instantly becoming worried.

"What's the matter?" Maya instantly asked all in one breath.

"I'm so sore from the egg retrieval," Carina sighed.

"Is that normal?" Maya demanded in concern. "Si. It doesn't make it any easier though," the Italian winced. Maya patted her lap, and her wife melted in it, leaning her entire body weight against the blonde's chest. She sighed deeply, her eyes closed.

"I'm sorry you're not feeling well, babe," Maya whispered, and pressed a kiss to her wife's neck.

"S'okay" Carina mumbled, exhausted. Despite the full night of sleep she had the night before, the anesthesia still made her feel more tired than usual, and the blonde was quick to wrap the Italian in her arms.

"Hey you," Mason greeted the two wives, while Fiona walked Wesley to where Sarah was pushing Lucia on the swing.

"Hey Mase," Maya smiled, and Mason frowned. "Is she okay?" He asked, looking at Carina, as he hunkered down on a blanket of his own, and the blonde nodded, taking in her wife in all her glory. God, Carina DeLuca was amazing.

"Yeah, she's sore. She just had an egg retrieval surgery; we're acting as a surrogate for some of our friends," Maya replied, rubbing her thumb over Carina's arm methodically, her touch impossibly calming for the brunette.

"Oh really? Congratulations," Mason stated with a smile.

"Thank you," Maya grinned, and looked at her wife, pressing a gentle kiss to her cheek. While Mason answered a quick call, Maya looked down at her wife, who was being very quiet.

"Babe..." Maya whispered, and was met with gentle, even breaths. The Italian looked so peaceful in her sleep, her hand still laced tightly in Maya's. The blonde sighed with a huge smiled, holding her Italian a little tighter in her embrace.

"Hey gang," Amelia announced, lounging on the blanket next to Maya. Link walked towards them, Scout in his arms. The two shook hands with Mason, quickly becoming acquainted. In the distance, Leo sprinted towards the park, Owen chasing after him, while Teddy guided Allison towards the swings, both of them giving the group a wave. Jo came minutes after, pulling Luna in a wagon.
