Chapter 27: I Think We're Going To Be Best Friends

Kaylee's P.O.V.

I looked over to where a group of guys were standing with their surfboards. 'How much would I want one of those pieces of meat right now.'

It must've been hours before I finally realized that one of guys in the group had caught my eye. I quickly looked away, hoping he hadn't seen me checking him and his friends out. But, of course he did.

When I looked away, my eyes immediately pretend to be glued onto the beautiful ocean water of the beach. I closed my eyes and sighed as the warm Californian sun rays rained down onto my skin.

I enjoyed soaking up the feeling of summer up until I felt a light tap on my shoulder. My eyes opened and gazed up. To my surprise, it was the guy that I was checking out before. I sat up in the public beach lounge chair, pretending to be startled.

To be friendly, I gave him a smile. "Um...hello." A few minutes of awkward silence passed by with the guy just standing there, staring at me. When he finally noticed the weirdness going on, he seemed to snap out of his daze.

"Uh...sorry," he mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. "I couldn't help but notice you staring at me and my lads a second ago."

I could feel a blush creeping along my cheeks. 'I'm sorry, but I just couldn't keep my eyes to myself.' "Oh...um-"

The guy cut me off. "-and I couldn't help but notice a beautiful girl, like you, alone." He took a seat on the same beach chair I was sitting on and stuck out a hand. "I'm Keith. Keith Rogers."

I placed my small hand into his large one. "Kaylee Rains, I'm new here."

"Well, Kaylee Rains I'm new here, I hope to see you around," he said, adding a wink. "Do you know what school you'll be attending?"

This question caught me off guard. What school am I going to be going to? "Umm...I-"

"Yo, Rogers!" Keith and I turned around to look in the direction of the voice. I had to soak in a deep breath to keep conscious as the hot figure approached. Is Malibu always full of hot guys? If it is, I might as well stay here forever.

Keith stood up off the beach chair to give a bro hug to, I guess, his best friend. "What's up, Joey?" When they broke away, Keith glanced around. "Where's Kate?"

And as if right on cue, a female voice popped up out of nowhere. "Right here!" I looked in the direction where the voice told me to look. In its place was a girl with straight, glossy blonde hair that seemed to flow perfectly in the wind.

Girls like her were and still are my role model. Hopefully, we start off on the right foot. A girl with that kind of popularity status must be famous in her school.

"Kate! Hey!" Keith shouted, making his way over to her. "I'd like to introduce you to a new friend of my mine." He led the petite figure over to where I was sitting. "This is Kaylee. She's new here."

The girl named Kate, looked me up and down as if analyzing if I seemed below or above a popularity status.

After a few minutes, she smiled. I let out a sigh of relief. She held a perfectly manicured hand out to me. "I'm Kate. It's nice to meet you."

I took her hand in mine and smiled-glad that I seemed to meet her standards. "Nice to meet you, too."

"I'm sure we're going to be best friends," she stated, still shaking my hand.

I nodded. "I can tell."

A couple of seconds passed before she let go of my hand. She looked over to Keith and-I guess-Joey. "Why don't you guys get us some ice cream? I'd like to talk to Kaylee here. Alone."

Keith looked at me to see if I was comfortable with this. His actions caught me off guard making my heart skip a beat. We only met a few minutes ago and he already seems to care about me. To bad I already got my eyes on someone else.

With a nod of my head, Keith left, following where Joey had went to the food stand.

When I couldn't see him anymore, I gaze over at Kate-who took a seat where Keith had only sat moments before.

"So, you're new here?" Kate questioned. I nodded my head. "How's Malibu treating you? Where are you from? Do you have a boyfriend? What brings you to Malibu?" So many questions.

"Um... Well so far, I love Malibu, and I'm from Avalon." From the corner of my eye, I could see Kate shaking her head in approval. "Um...I have a boyfriend. And he is the reason why I came to Malibu." I wonder if she knows him.

Kate smiled. "Who's your boyfriend? Do I know him?"

I awkwardly looked around. "I don't know if you know him. His name is Liam-"

"OMG! Is it, Liam Ross!" She shouted in shock. "Are you kidding me, right now?"

My eyes snapped to her. "Ummm, yeah. Liam is my boyfriend. And no, I am not kidding you, right now."

Kate shook her head, with a hand over her mouth. "You do know that he's dating Ava Rose, right?"

Anger seemed to rise up in me, thinking about that bitch. "I know. But I intend to break them up."

Kate snorted. "How are you going to do that? They're practically glued to each other."

I started to see red. "I'll find a way."

Looking over at Kate, I noticed that she had a smile dancing on her face. "And you're going to need my help."

I returned the smile, with a grin. "I think we're going to become best friends."

'You better watch out, bitch. You'll never see it coming.'

So... How was your guys' week? My week has been horrible. I'm pretty sure I failed my science test.😭😭 school stinks. I stayed up late studying for that test until 4 a.m. School's been hard on me for the past couple of weeks. Sorry for keeping you guys waiting. Anyways, enough depressing stuff!

It's Easter (or the day before Easter depending on where you live)!😄😄🎈🎈 It's a time for hunting for eggs!!
