Pizza -16

Evelyn's POV•

Searching my phone for the pizza place number in my phone,as i leaned on the island,I never keep the receipt after ordering so it goes on like this.

The door bell ringed and i checked my watch it read 1 o'clock so it might not be her.

I open the door and first thing i see is her back "your early"i muttered

"Im actually on time "she flashed her phone screen

My eyes grow two times bigger than usual making her smirk at me.

I let her in "make yourself at home, what would you like to drink"

"I'll have anything"she clicks her teeth.

I offered Coke and flipped through my phone contact for the pizza place, it didn't take long before I gave up.

"Someone needs help in something?"she announced with a sarcastic tone. I huffed.

"Yeah someone who knows how to make pizza, would be the greatest help I'll get"i retorted folding my arms before me

She nods taking her jacket off and placing it on the islands chair "why didn't you say so"she rolled up her sleeves

"What,You know how to make a pizza" according to how easy it is anyone could. Yet I'm too lazy to make one

She reaches the cabinets, opening one and closing the other"get me the biggest bowl and tray you got, and slice the tomatoes and the cheese please "she says and i do as im told how cliché right

She softly flattened and gathered the dough before letting it rest ,i then take out a deep saucepan and put it on the stove.waiting for the magic to happen

I started cutting onions and bell peppers and whatever else she requested.

Minutes go by and keva enters the kitchen "mommy where's the pizza"She says eyeing us both

"It will be done in about 10 minutes beautiful "Kendra says before me"would you like to help?"she suggests and keva nods enthusiastically.

They technically started playing instead of working, Kendra spreading the dough on the tray and i get the sauce. Adding toppings and seasonings i wouldn't put on a pizza to be honest,it looked edible thats what matters. So we put it in the oven and wait.

I was making the table when she came up behind me wrapping her arms around my waist, she gives my neck a small peck before turning me around to face her

"Hey I've been thinking and"she sighs "would you like to go out on a date with me like an official date not just a city tour"she mumbles the last part

I smile looking at her face quietly refusing to form an answer.

"Um if your not-uh-okay with it or-your busy i could-"i put my fingers on her lips

"I guess It's settled then"I said pecking her lips softly. She smiled widely before checking the oven,the pizza was done by now and she took it out.

"looks delicious "i complimented and left the kitchen.

Minutes passed and Adam was rushing to the kitchen and keva on my back.

Everyone settled in as we watched tv and chatted more like critiqued the movie. For a hot second my eyes couldn't stop looking at her,it's more like undressing her with my eyes but my eyes are not taking it slow.

Her phone screen lights on,it's a message with weird initials that I almost thought we're familiar.

Her face expression became cold as fast as you flip a coin in the air,her eyes attacked by the dim lighting in the room.

I place my hand on her thigh"what's wrong"

Facing me quietly,making the tension a pain in the bottom,my eyes search hers momentarily before landing on her lips.

"Umm -nothing it's just work-my coworker had to travel so im replacing him this week"her eyes weren't frankly the same

I feel something is up but she refuses to let me know"okay,its not that bad to get you stiffened up like this"i say

"Forget about it it's just-too irritating that he never does that for me. I've been lenient i guess"she explains

I nod trying not to make it any weirder.

The movie is about to end Adam had collapsed in the couch and keva was sleeping in my lap.

"I'll be right back just let me put her in bed"i point out

"Not going anywhere"she smiles

I reciprocate with a simple one as i get off the couch and up the stairs.
