Chapter 78 ~ He is innocent

Start from the beginning

I run my hands through my hair nervously I look over at the window where Arthur and Uther were looking out the window. I take in a shaky breath I look at my hand and see it was shaking. Merlin walks over to me; he cups his hand on my face and looks me over, making sure I was okay.

"Are you okay?" Merlin asks

I nod slowly.  He pulls me into a hug.

I pull away from him and smile.

I walk over to Morgana,  "Are you okay?"

She nods "Are you?"

"Yeah, just a tad shaky but other than that I'm fine" I reply

She smiles at me, and I walk back to Uther.

He puts an arm over my shoulder. I look at Arthur. He looks at me worriedly; I nod, knowing what he wanted to know.

Gaius was let out of the cells, Merlin and I both gave him a hug when he was back in his chambers. Merlin and I left and walked up to our room so Gaius can clean. I lay down on my back Merlin sat down next to me.

"Are you sure you okay?" He asks

"Yeah, just a little shaken up," I say "Really, I'm fine."

"Liv, can I ask you something?" He asks

"Sure," I say

"Your nightmares? Are you still having them?"

I shake my head. "No, they've... stopped."

"You promise?" He asks

"Yes, they've really stopped" I reply

"Ah, Liv I'm so happy for you" He smiles "Could this have something to do with, Arthur?"

"No, why would Arthur have anything to do with it?"

"Well, they why did they stop?"

"I don't know my destiny, our destiny and everything has made me forget it, and knowing that the man who hurt Mom is gone put my mind to rest,"  I say

"Yes, and Arthur was the one who killed him."

"Okay, I guess Arthur did have something to do with it,"  I say

"You really care about him? Don't you?"

I smile and nod.

"I'm happy for you; you're so cute together."

"Okay, I'm done."

I walk down into the main chambers.

I sit down at the table. Merlin sits down next to me.

Gaius puts bowls of soup in front of us.

He grabs his bowl, then sits down "What I don't understand is how you knew he'd concealed evidence in his chamber."

"Just a hunch," I say

"I see." Gaius says "And the toad?"

I look at Merlin

He clears his throat "That we can't explain."

"Hmm, I can hardly explain it myself." Gaius says "Unless, of course, you put it there."

"Okay, Gaius, fair enough." Merlin says "We promise I will never save your life again."

"Promise?" Gaius asks

"Absolutely," I say

Merlin and I stare at Gaius intently.

Merlin and I burst out laughing, Gaius laughs with us.

"Honestly, Merlin, Olivia, the toad was a step too far," Gaius says

"I know, I know" Merlin laughs.

"It wasn't my idea," I say.

"But you should have seen the look on his face." Merlin laughs

Gaius imitates Aredian spitting the frog out.

Merlin and I laugh.
