Most martial arts originated in Asia. However in other certain places people say it originated in the Middle East. There being over one hundred martial arts isn't the problem for this.
The problem is that most martial arts stem from who knows how long back. There is of course, evidence of some. But there is no telling if there was destroy evidence before that and used before that time. At this time, we can't tell.
There is lots of information from both sides, although I think it martial arts originate in Asia. Nevertheless the most popular ones originate there.
