Enemy

When the whole world becomes your enemy,
Do you see the darkness that makes your blood go red?
Do you see the shadows wherever you place your head?
Do you see bitter eyes and bitterer lies
Or the bitterest truths all aligned?
Do you build your walls, recoil, and hide away
As if your disappearance would make them go away,
Or do you grab your shield and sword
And march into the battle with a roar?
Do your biting remarks cut deeper than steel?
Do the spits of others bounce off you like an act repealed,
Or do you don that mask that helps you conceal
Everything you ever hoped to feel?
Do your enemies know that wherever you go,
You have conjured up their evils and made them bold?
Do you share your gift of telepathic ESP?
Do you tell them all what they just can't see?
Do you really believe all that you speak,
When the whole world becomes your enemy?
