Hypocrisy

Oh the hubris and hypocrisy
Of those who have climbed to the top of the staircase!
They have reached a higher level and cast gazes of spite
On those down below as if they had never been one of us.
They spit wads and words of shame in our direction
Like we were nothing more than maggots in a dumpster.
They hurl stones with their mighty power to keep us low
And ensure that no others can climb up to their level.

They are the mighty and we are the meek,
Yet they do not realize that they have merely ascended
To the second story of the skyscraper of existence.
They are blinded by their own pride and refuse to accept
The fact that in the eyes of the most high,
They are the same maggots as we.

They are just as despicable and vain;
They are no different...
They have only jumped slightly higher,
Imperceptibly so when compared to the heights
Of the mountaintops and pinnacles.

They are the mighty full of hubris and hypocrisy,
And we are the meek full of humility and hypocrisy
Heavens have mercy on us all.
