Bright Light

We want to be that bright shining light
 the one that gives bold insight
 every step taken hitting its mark
 if we have our way

We want to be that bright blazing star
 the one that helps to see so far
 and ignites dire hearts with fire
 that doesn't fade

We want to be that bright ember blaze
 the one that inspires and amazes
 while taking the world by its reins
 never to stray

We want to be that knight in bright plate
 the one that slays every daft prate
 and strengthens the courage to rise
 every single time

We want to be the sunlight that shines
 the day that never turns to night
 but we are only humans who cannot
                                                           glow
                        without tearing our soul
                                        and watching it
                                        fade away

We are only humans who give too much
                 only to find there is not enough
  for ourselves when the times get rough
  and we cannot help but
                                              go astray

We are only humans who leak our light
not stopping to think of the empty inside
   that will remain once all the brightness
                                                  has lost hold

We are only human
  But we want to be bright
If only we can
  Keep making this light
