Adieu

Adieu, adieu my sweet summer fool.
I bid you adieu without love too.

I may think of you from time to time,
But not how you want me smiling wide.

There will be laughing and grins and joy
When I am far from your plots and ploys -
When I'm flying high doing my dance
Without fearing the whims of your chance.

Come to me another day, not today,
And I may be so kind as to pray
For the light to come and shine your way.

But today, stay away - far away -
So that I may not add rash murder
To my pristine paper resume.
