Things were a blur from the minute you saw Peter with webshooters.

You were pulled away by MJ, and you couldn't do anything else - you didn't have your suit, and what would you even do against water?

Despite how crazy everything was, you could only think one thing in your head - Peter was Spider-Man. It was so obvious now that you just wanted to smack yourself. You were a grade A student, top of your class, working at Oscorp for fuck's sake - but you couldn't realize that Spider-Man was Peter the whole time?

There was no time to think about it any longer as you were pulled by MJ toward the rest of your class. Everyone was huddling behind a building, Mr. Harrington rambling on about safety and shit that you weren't paying attention to.

Everyone was focused on what just landed in the courtyard.

It appeared to be a man, and you resisted the urge to ask if that was a fishbowl on his head. Inside was swirling mist. But the bottom part of him just looked like a guy in an intense costume, with green mist swirling from his hands and his chest plate glowing green as well.

You couldn't see Peter anymore, and despite everything, you hoped he was okay - but it seemed like this guy had it handled. Green mist poured from his hands and attacked the water as people ran in the other direction. Your senses were going crazy, and you regretted not bringing your suit.

You'd rather people wondered why Silk was in Venice than why some girl on a field trip could suddenly lift tons of pounds of weight.

But before you were about to decide it was worth it, the water suddenly fell back into the canals and the screaming and sounds of chaos stopped. The guy with the fishbowl head landed back on the ground, waving to your class before flying off again.

"What the hell just happened?" MJ muttered next to you, and you were wondering the same thing. "And where's Peter?"

"He better be okay so I can kill him myself," you muttered. MJ either didn't hear you, or pretended not to.

It wasn't until hours later that your class was in their respective rooms. Peter had appeared out of thin air, saying he got lost, and you had to resist the urge to crawl into a hole and hide. You had plenty of time now to think about the situation fully.

So instead of sitting with your classmates while they watched the news and made names for the mysterious guy who saved everyone, you trudged up to your room and tried not to scream in frustration.

Peter was Spider-Man. Spider-Man and Peter were the same person. They always had been. No matter how many times you repeated that in your head, you couldn't fathom the idea that it was true.

Every memory you had with Spider-Man was now tainted with the knowledge that it was actually Peter the whole time. For God's sake, you told Peter that you had been in love with him. You shared so many personal secrets with the boy who had broken your heart and snatched your friendship away like it was nothing. You had kissed him.

This time you did scream into your pillow, feeling embarrassed and pissed and like you were about to cry all in one. If it could have been anyone but Peter.
