Maybe getting Jared those light up shoes weren't the best idea. Evan thought to himself for the twentieth time in the past day.

He watched Jared bounce down the hall, jumping so the shoes would light up with his steps. Evans face flushed red as he realized that everyone was staring at Jared, and Jared was coming his way.

He quickly turned to his locker, pretending that he was focused on that instead of Jared. Maybe Jared would see how red he was and leave him alone.

"Hey babe." Fuck.

"Hi Jare." Evan said, quickly avoiding eye contact.

Jared gave him a smirk, leaning closer to Evan. "Thank you for the shoes, love."

Evan just nodded his head, to focused on how close Jared's lips were to his own. Jared noticed this, and leaned a little closer. Close enough that they could feel each other's breath on their lips. Evan was about to lean in when Jared pulled away.

"Yes, truly these shoes are the best."

Evan rolled his eyes, his face flushing. He turned and slammed his locker, huffing as he started to walk away. Jared couldn't help laughing as he trailed after Evan like a lost puppy.

"Baby! I'm sorry! But you should've seen your face!"

The lights in the school went dark, causing the children in the hall to scream and panic. Jared bumped into Evan, who had stopped.

"Jared?" Evan whispered, turning around slightly.

"Yeah, it's me." Jared smiled wide, pausing for dramatic effect. "Hey Evan?"

"Yeah?"

"You light up my world." Evan was confused for a moment before Jared stomped his feet, filling their area with light.

"If I wasn't so scared, I would punch you right now. Just so you know."

"Understandable, have a nice day."

"Jared Kleinman, you better shut up now."

"Oof. Can I get a RIP in the chat?"

"You can get my fist to your face."
