Michael gave another maiden a fake smile, indulging in another boring conversation.

He glanced around the room trying not to seem rude, but also not wanting to listen to another maiden talk about how her father was blah blah blah.

His eyes fell again upon the servant boy who was delivering food to the table. He tried to look away, but the boy was far more interesting then the girls who spoke to him.

The boy pushed back a strand of his curly hair, wiping his hands on his apron. He glanced up at Michael and blushed, the second time that night.

Getting courage, Michael turned back to the girl who was talking. He mumbled something about having to go to the restroom before rushing off to the secret kitchen entrance.

"-I swear Christine! He's looked at me! Twice."

Michael chuckled as he heard the mystery boy talk with the head baker.

"Really?" She asked, her eyes dancing with excitement. "Okay, okay, if you give me five minutes Jeremy, I can make another batch of treats to bring out there..." Christine trailed off, catching Michaels eyes. He sent her a silent plead for her not to say anything, and she 'zipped her lips'.

"I don't know Christine... it's just... he's so-!" Jeremy sighed. "He's so... nice. And, and I'm pretty sure he's like, bored as hell by all the girls, and I just want to like, I don't know, save him or something? That sounds stupid."

"It doesn't sound stupid." Jeremy instantly shut up once he heard the new voice. "I would be very happy if you took me away from them." Michael chuckled, giving Jeremy a goofy grin. Christine snuck past the two, trying to give them some 'private time'.

"I, I uh, I didn't, I'm oh god, sir, I'm sorry." Jeremy mumbled, his face turning a bright red.

"No, don't apologize." Michael said. "I... I wanted to talk to you too. That's why I'm kinda here?" Michael said, coming off as a question. "I uh, I'm Michael."

"I know...Prince Michael, I'm truly sorry." Jeremy tried again to apologize.

"Dude. It's all good." Michael placed a hand on Jeremy's shoulder. "I promise you're not gonna get in trouble."

Jeremy let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Okay. Okay."

"So, you seem to already know about me, but I don't really know anything about you..." Michael trailed off, hoping Jeremy would get the hint.

"Oh! You, you want to know about me?"

Michael nodded. "Duh. Why else would I have asked?"

"Well, I uh," Jeremy paused, hearing something Michael didn't. "Why don't we talk another, another time? I think people are looking for us."

"Screw them. Come on, I know somewhere secret." Michael grabbed Jeremy's hand, pulling him out the kitchen doors and down the hall. When he heard footsteps, he pulled Jeremy against the wall, making them both unseen. When he was sure the coast was clear, he pulled Jeremy to another long hallway.

Michael stopped at a light fixture, jumping up and pulling it down. When he hit the the ground, a secret passage opened up. Michael brushed himself off, and lead Jeremy down the hallway. The door closed behind them, and once Michael opened the door at the end, Jeremy was filled with awe.

"I haven't... I don't think I've ever even seen this place..." Jeremy trailed off, looking around in amazement.

"Yeah, most people don't know it exists. It's like... my secret lair."

Jeremy ran his hands over a bookcase, looking around at all the artwork and comfy chairs. "This room is... it's so beautiful."

"I'm glad you like it." Michael said, his voice seemingly small as he tried to muster up confidence to talk to the pretty boy. "So? Uh, do you want to talk?"

Jeremy glanced over at Michael, trying to determine if this was all a prank.

"I swear," Michael said, sensing Jeremy's fears. "I do want to know about you. I've seen you before, but... I've never really met you."

"Well..." Jeremy trailed off, sitting in a red velvet chair across from Michael. The fire place burned brightly next to them, seemingly started by magic. "I uh, I started working with the castle when I was three..."
