Their wedding had been absolutely gorgeous. Alix's dress was beautiful, Niall fixed up well, and the sunset on the beach was amazing.

He basically ignored me, but he had kissed me. I felt guilty about it anytime I saw him. It would soar through me like adrenaline in an action movie

I never could figure out why he did it. It was all so strange.

I was planting flowers in my backyard when I saw Alix get into the car. She made me feel guilty as well, but less so.

"Headed to the store," she explained, getting into the driver's seat. I waved, trying to scrub off some of the dirt from my hands afterwards.

I continued planting, poking a worm with a stick when I got bored. If I was going to be living there, I needed to make the place look presentable.

It was June, and I was on a break from college for a week; I had things to get done.

I was suddenly tackled by a dog, and it was licking my face up and down. I shrieked, but I couldn't help laughing at the same time. Someone whistled the dog off of me, and I sat up.

Niall stood at the edge of my lawn, staring at me.

"Hi," he said, watching his dog jump at his feet and beg to be pet. I clapped for the dog to come over.

"So you can kiss me, but you can't pet your own dog?" I asked, looking at him with accusing eyes. His widened while I stroked his dog gently.

"I-," he started. I stood up, pushing hard off the ground, making the dog stand up as well.

"Do you do that to all of the new girls in the neighborhood?" I asked, walking back towards my back door. I opened it, but he spoke up.

"(Y/N)," he pleaded. I cocked a hip, feeling like a diva but knowing I couldn't stay much longer. If Alix came home, something revealing might have happened.

"I don't want to hear it, Niall. You're married, and even when you were engaged," I began ranting. "You kissed me," I spoke softly, not wanting the neighbors to hear any of it.

He inhaled shakily, taking a few steps closer.

"I didn't mean to make you upset, I just-" He cut off, still staring at me. His eyebrows were furrowed and I could tell he was sorry, but I couldn't show that I wanted to forgive him.

"How do I know I can trust you?" I thought out loud. He shifted his weight to his left foot. I watched him walk up my steps, coming closer to me than he had in six months. Six months and two days, exactly. I hadn't meant to count it, but it just sort of happened.

He leaned over and before I knew it, he had kissed me once more. I found myself enjoying it, just like the first time, but my conscious knew it was all wrong even though his lips felt so right against mine.

I pushed away, breathing out and making a distressed noise.

"Niall!" I exclaimed. His eyebrows shot up.

"You kissed me back!" he countered, stepping back from me. I was about to reply when there was a noise behind Niall.

We both looked up to see Alix with a grocery bag and tears streaming down her face.
