Flaws

"But Niall, you can't!" I whined, realizing how stupid I sounded only after I said it. He rolled his eyes, continuing to tie his shoes.

"I'm just going out with a couple of friends, like I always do. What's the problem, (Y/N)?" he inquired of me. I shifted my weight on my feet, trying to come up with a good answer that made sense. He stood up straight and glared at me.

"You said we would spend more time together," I pouted, crossing my arms. He inhaled slowly.

"I did, but tonight I want some time to myself," he said, grabbing his phone and wallet off the counter.

"Niall-"

"I would want to spend time with you if you weren't so clingy!" he yelled. I stopped all movement. What?

"It's always 'Niall this' and 'Niall that,' and I get that we're in a relationship, but you have to give me space, (Y/N)!" I flinched at his words and the hate in his eyes.

"Fine. Go," I said, hearing my voice begin to become smaller and smaller. He smiled to himself, opening the door and closing it behind him without a word.

If he thought I had a flaw, then it would fix it.

I woke up the next morning after climbing into my bed with my clothes still on. I remembered how I yelled at (Y/N) and felt bad. What I had said was true, but I felt bad about saying it to her the way I had.

I looked to my right, but she wasn't there. I sighed, thinking she might be up making breakfast or something. That would be nice; we hadn't had a homemade breakfast for a long time.

I changed into some more comfortable clothes and walked out into the living room, smelling pancakes.

"Good morning," I said, looking up at my plate of steaming pancakes, eggs, and toast, but not seeing her. I ate quickly, knowing she had left somewhere; her purse and favorite shoes were gone. I decided she had just left to get something and didn't worry.

I turned on a game of football, feeling satisfyingly full. After an hour or so, the door handle jiggled, and then she came through the doorway.

"Hey," I said, not really looking over at her. I heard the rustle of plastic bags as she carried them in and put them on the table. She didn't say anything, so I glanced over at her.

"Thanks for the breakfast," I commented, stretching abit. Saturdays were always lazy days. She hummed at me, but said nothing else, which was odd. She always had something to say.

"What's wrong?" I wondered, pausing the telly. She looked at me, holding a few refrigerated items.

"Nothing," she said, giving me a small smile. I could hear the tone in her voice, letting me know that something was wrong. I got up and walked towards the kitchen, watching her put the groceries away.

"Did you sleep well last night?" I asked, standing close to her. That had been a problem in previous times.

She shrugged, taking a step away from me. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"C'mon. Tell me what's bothering you," I whispered, hugging her and trying to help her come out of her shell. She had never really been reserved like that before. I let her go.

"I have too many flaws, Niall," she said, her voice breaking. My heart sank when I concluded that my yelling the previous day had gotten to her.

"Everyone has flaws. Some people wear them on their sleeves, and some people try everything in their nature to hide them. I love you, (Y/N), and I know that we can work this out," I said to her gently. Her pained face turned to one of apology, and I took her hands in mine.

"I love you, too," she said softly before pressing her lips to mine and sending us into the best times of our lives.
