I sat down in class and waited for him to walk through the door. When he did, a smile slipped onto my face. Ever since we had started hanging out a week ago, I always smiled when he was around. He sat down to my left and smiled.

"Hi." He had told me he liked me. He wasn't crazy about me, but he wanted to see where it went. I was still a little confused about how I felt.

"Hey," I said back. He sat down and we got out our homework. A little while later, we could do a small project with a partner.

"Wanna be partners?" I asked quickly. I didn't want to move around and have to find someone who would do work with me.

"Yeah," he smiled. We started working, but most of it was writing. We both became silent and suddenly, with my left hand on desk, he took my hand in his. I pulled away on instinct.

He looked at me quickly and blinked.

"Sorry, I just-" he started.

"It's okay," I said, looking down. "I'm just not used to it." He nodded a bit and his hand was still right next to mine. I continued writing.

I watched as he slowly pulled his hand away. I put mine over his and didn't look at him.

"Don't move," I whispered, still writing. When I took my hand off his, I felt the energy in my body somehow decrease and I realized my heart had been pounding in my chest.

We didn't touch but our fingers were right next to each other. The teacher was talking after we were finished and I took his hand in mine, lacing our fingers together.

He sat up a little straighter and our hands moved under the desks. I squeezed his hand a bit and smiled at him.

When class finally ended, we had to let go, or the teacher would yell at us. We walked out into the hallway and stopped by the door.

"Niall-" I started. Suddenly soft lips planted a kiss on my temple and I blushed. I looked up at him when he released, butterflies rising in my stomach. He smiled down at me.

"I'll see you tonight at seven. My house," he said quickly. I smiled as my heart fluttered along with all the butterflies. I nodded quickly.

"Bye," he said as he walked away. I watched him until he disappeared into another classroom and wondered how I could've been confused about how I felt about him. I could barely stay still in anticipation for the date.

And it was the first of many.
