Alicia's POV:

I wheeled into the house and smiled "Home at last" . I had about an hour before they all got home from school , Chelsea was going to pick up Lily from school and then she was fetching Sadie, Skye and Taylor from nursery. Mam arrived home from work about half an hour before she had to fetch the kids from school , I heard her key in the lock and I bit my lip and looked at Chelsea who was struggling to suppress her giggle. "Anyone home?" I heard her call out

"In here Mam" Chelsea called out and she came into the living room not noticing me sitting there at first as Chelsea was sitting in her direct eyeline

"Chelsea love as much as I love having you here , it's a bit creepy that you let yourself in when no one was home" Mam laughed

"Well it's not really empty Is it Mam" I wheeled into the middle of the room.

"Alicia! You didn't tell me you were being discharged. I could have taken the time off work. What time did you get discharged?" She hugged me and sat down on the sofa wiggling her toes

"About 2 this afternoon. They took ages with all my paperwork and then I had to hang around for ages getting my outpatients appointments sorted" I replied

"I said I'd pick Grace up from school this afternoon so we're in time for the performance tonight, Oh no!" She stopped mid sentence

"What is it Mam? Are you okay" We both said more or less at the same time.

"I didn't book you a seat for tonight's performance" She said looking sad "Rachel wants us at every performance, she said it will help her perform better"

"Mam it's fine.... Rachel kind of knew about me coming home today so she got a ticket last night" I bit my lip

"Oh thanks, tell your sisters you're being discharged but not the person who gave birth to you" She pretended to be offended and I reached across to hug her

It's safe to say that the kids were ecstatic to see me. We all got ready for Rachel's performance and drove to the school, Grace walked beside me chattering ten to the dozen. Dad removed one of the chairs from the aisle we were sitting on so my wheelchair could fit. Just out of the corner of my eye I could see Rachel looking out from behind the curtain. I smiled and waved to her and her face lit up .

After the performance she came out to us "Rachel you were amazing. I can't wait to see it again" I hugged her .

"Alicia, I can't believe you actually came. When Chelsea texted me to say that there had been a hold up at the hospital getting you discharged I didn't expect you to be here. Thank you for all coming and thank you to those who say it yesterday" She laughed "Oh I almost forgot. I want to introduce you to someone" She waved at a Girl who was chatting to her drama teacher "Everyone this is Beth. She helped me a lot last year when I was in a wheelchair and she made me realize that I could still do things. She's part of the reason why I bargained to be able to do these performances"

Beth blushed "I can't take credit for everything. Your daughter is wonderful Mrs Masters and very clever from what she's told me and from what I know. Very few people get scouted for the youth theatre group, it's very select and it's usually kids that go to a performing arts centre. Rachel this is just a little thing to say well done for being the superstar you always have been" She handed her a little bag with a box of chocolates in.

Connie's POV:

Everything went smoothly until the day Rachel got her plaster fitted. I went into school as normal until morning break at 11:30 when I arrived to collect her and take her to the hospital for her appointment at 12:30. She had emailed her teachers explaining this and most of them had sent her through the work to catch up on. We arrived at the hospital and went through to outpatients and found the fracture clinic and booked her in . She watched YouTube videos on her phone until they called us inside "Hello Rachel, Mrs Masters. We're going to be fitting your plaster cast today. Have you decided on a colour?"
