1 what inspired the idea of your story?

The song No Time to Die by Billie Eilish inspired me to write Awakening. Then I didn't really want a happening ending for the story, and I imagined the main character that she was ascending from the flames, a metaphor for her redemption.

2 what is something you struggled constructing with your story?

My main struggle in writing the story was my character's background. I wanted people to see her decide despite what she's done. That she's not at all crazy and a madman despite the outcome of her rage. That she was a victim of this cruel world as well. My main character's flawed, there's no doubt about that.

3 what did you enjoy writing most of your story?

I enjoyed writing the ending the most because this was where the main character was beginning to realize that she won't let anyone trample her anymore. It was her redemption and she definitely had it.

4 what's the overall response of your story from your readers?

Fine, I guess. I don't really know since a few have read it. But there are a few comments saying that they liked it, especially the lines. I hope more people get to read it.

5 is your story a stand alone novel or a piece of a series ?

Right now, I'm still undecided if it'll stop there or give it a story of its own.

6 what would you like your readers to take away from your story?

As cliche as it sounds, I want them to realize that nobody's truly perfect. That somehow, there's always a part of us that's a wolf in a sheep's clothing. That somehow, there's a part of us that's pretending to be the good guy and people will use that weakness to their advantage.

7 what advice would you provide to fellow writers, when it comes to focusing on their own story?

I guess that's to plan everything ahead. Have inspiration so you won't feel unmotivated. Write because it's your passion, not because it's a competition.

8 does your main character share any similarities to yourself?

I guess it's that we've been fooled by the people we love in some way.

9 what is something about your story you believe would draw in new readers?

It's not your typical revenge story, that I can assure you.

10 do you have any future projects?

Of course! I have an ongoing mystery/thriller story that's written in Filipino that I plan on translating into English next year to reach more readers. I have a lot in store so stay tuned!
