Meredith: The dictionary defines grief as: "Keen mental suffering or distress over affliction or loss. Sharp sorrow. Painful regret." As surgeons, as scientists, we're taught to learn from and rely on books, on definitions, on definitives. But in life, strict definitions rarely apply. In life, grief can look like a lot of things that bear little resemblance to "sharp sorrow.

Day 22

>>

Cristina: "These are good. Do they sell these in the cafeteria?" she questions, eating a popsicle with Audrey and Meredith as they join Izzie for her IL-2

Meredith: "No."

Izzie: "No. Those are the cancer pops."

Cristina: "Why do cancer people get all the fun?" she says, plopping down in a chair as Izzie and Meredith give her a look

Audrey: "Are we really shocked at this point?" she shrugs, making the pair nod

Meredith: "How do you feel, lz?"

Izzie: "Not looking forward to the hurling, but I feel ok, I feel good."

Cristina: "Bailey's on some sort of rampage. I think it's Post-O'Malley Stress Disorder." she chuckles, making Meredith shake her head

Meredith: "She's not dealing with grief."

Cristina: "You sound like Owen's shrink."

Audrey: "What's wrong with Owen's shrink?"

Meredith: "Owen's shrink is withholding sex. So she is grumpy and inappropriate."

Audrey: "I would be to. I mean it's been how long since you last got any?"

Cristina: "Besides the hook up with McSteamy, when's the last time you got any?" she asks defensively

Audrey: "Before I gave birth. Perk of having a sex buddy."

Cristina: "Maybe I should get a sex buddy." she sighs in thought

Izzie: "Is Derek doing that, too? Withholding sex?"

Meredith: "Why would Derek withhold sex?"

Izzie: "Alex is withholding everything. It's like he's afraid, but I don't know what he's afraid of."

Cristina: "He's afraid of cancer sex."

Audrey: "Cristina!" she gives her an incredulous look, slapping her leg

Cristina: "He doesn't want a cancer pop."

Meredith: "Cristina!"

Izzie: "Just shut the hell up. I'm not contagious, Cristina."

Cristina: "I know that. I would totally have sex with you."

Mark: "Really? Nothing?" he asks Lexie as she helps him move boxes into his new apartment

Lexie: "No."

Mark: "You don't even want a drawer?"

Lexie: "No."

Mark: "How about a toothbrush? Change of panties?"

Lexie: "No."

Mark: "Damn. I like your panties."

Lexie: "I am trying to focus. I'm-I'm becoming a resident today. I need to focus."

Mark: "I'm right across the street from the hospital. If you crash here sometimes, you'll get a jump on surgeries."
