Not having Fred around affected my mood more than I thought it would
Running in the morning became a me and Ginny thing, which was fine she ran fast enough and wanted to run long distance so she was a good partner
But it wasn't Fred
I went back to sleeping into my own dorm, a bed I haven't slept in since Fred and I broke up earlier this year
Sleeping alone was terrible, if I woke up from a nightmare about Barty Crouch I had no one to be comforted by
Though I swear whenever I woke up from a nightmare I felt emotions coming from my bracelet
It's hard to explain, but it almost felt like Fred was able to comfort me even when he wasn't here
I wonder how Mrs.Weasley took them not graduating Hogwarts
Today was our O.W.L. exams, and even though I had more time to study with Fred being gone, I still didn't feel like I would do well
I was sat next to Ron, Hermione was sat next to Harry
We were all spaced out enough that no one could cheat, but I still wish I was closer to Hermione to even get a small peak at what she was writing down
Ron was useless, anytime I looked at him he was scratching his head and I swear I could feel his eyes piercing my papers trying to get answers off of me
I felt laugher come from my bracelet which made me jump and then more laughter came along
I sent a thought down to it, feeling like an idiot talking to my bracelet
"Can you read my thoughts?" I asked it
"Only once per day" Fred's voice filled my head
I jumped and got the attention of Umbridge who was at the front of the classroom
"Is there a problem? Miss.Black?" She asked
"No I'm fine"
When she stopped looking at me I went back to sending my thoughts down the bracelet
"How??" I asked
"The newest charm was enchanted with the ability for us to communicate through our minds. It only works once a day, not nearly enough time to talk to you or hear your voice but a way for me to be there for you even when I'm far away"
I smiled and could feel Ron's questioning attention on me
I knew he was cheating off of me
I moved my shoulder to block his eyes from my work
"I miss you"
"I know...I can feel the emotions you are sending down to the bracelet subconsciously. I miss you more Love, I have to go I'll talk to you tomorrow morning good luck on exams and tell Ron to stop cheating off of you"
"Wait"
He didn't say anything
"You love me right?"
"More than anything in the world"
"...how many times did Wendelin the Weird allow herself to be caught by witch-hunters?"
I felt his laughter, so much that I smiled even harder than before
"Forty-seven my love"
"I love you thank you so much"
"I love you more"
I finished my exams and passed it in to Umbridge, the same time Hermione passed hers in
"You both are sure you're done?" She asked as if we are stupid for being done this early instead of smart
"Yup" we both said and walked away
We sat outside the classroom while we waited for Harry and Ron to finish
Harry finished 20 minutes after us
Ron finished an hour after us
"How do you think you all did" Ron asked nervous
"Probably shitty I just guessed the entire time" I said laughing
"Please tell me youre joking" Hermione said
"Of course I am, I did try my best so we will see"
I decided to not tell them about my bracelet, and let that be a thing just between Fred and I. It felt very private for us to have this connection and I wanted to keep it that way
The next day came and we were all sitting in the common room, Harry said he hadn't slept the night before, so he was napping here now with us
"Poor Harry I think he hasn't slept well since—well his whole life" I said putting a pillow under his head
An hour went by and then Harry jumped out of his sleep sweating
"Harry what's wrong??" Hermione asked, she was the closest to Harry since Ron and I were playing wizards chess in the back of the room
"Sirius he's in trouble I had a vision they're torturing him just like they tried to do with Mr.Weasley the same room I remember it we have to go to the ministry" he said getting up from the couch and racing for the door
"Wait Harry...why did you see this and not Electra?" Hermione asked
"I have had my shield up I learned Occlumency" I said
"But what if V-Voldemort is making you see this...like it's a trap" she said
"I won't let Sirius die" Harry said
I felt my heart tighten up with his words, my bracelet warmed up as my heart started beating faster and faster
"Harry we need to tell Professor McGonagall about it or contact the house" Hermione said
Ron and me joined up with Harry and raced through the hallways trying to find Professor McGonagall
"We've been running for too long we need another plan we have to go to Umbridge's office" I said panicking
"She's in there we cant just walk in and demand use of her fireplace" Hermione said in between breaths
Just then we ran into Ginny and Luna
"What wrong?" Ginny asked us keeping up with our pace
Ron explained what was happened and we all stopped before her office
"We need a distraction" I said
"Leave that to me" Ron said "go hide all of you"
So we did, we all hid behind tapestries and waited for his distraction to happen
A loud boom happened that shook the entire school, and just after it Umbridge ran out from her office and chased the sound
"Now we have to go" Harry said
"We'll keep a look out" Luna said holding Ginnys hand
Hermione Harry and I went into her office and used the fireplace to connect to the house
No one answered the first time so we tried again and this time the house elf named Kreacher answered
"Yes?" He asked
"Kreacher where is Sirius" Harry asked
"He's at the ministry" he said back
My heart dropped
I felt concern coming from my bracelet but I couldn't find myself sending emotion back to it, other than pain and panic
Just before Harry could question Kreacher more the office door slammed open and there stood Umbridge covered in paint and dragging in a group behind her
Ron was being held by Goyle
Luna was being dragged by Crabbe
Ginny was being held by Pansy
And even Neville was being dragged in by Graham
"Grab them" she said to her remaining squad members
Cassius grabbed me by the throat and held me in place in front of him
Millicent grabbed Hermione
And Umbridge grabbed Harry
We are so fucked
