"You work too much friend" says Megan as she looks around your new office .
Megan is your best friend . You go wayyy back from high school to college days .
"How else am I gonna afford this expensive ass wedding?" You say
You've been engaged for a little over 3 months now but you've finally settled on a date. The pressure of the wedding being perfect and spending your life with one woman was enough to drive you insane. You love your fiancé but sometimes you think it's all too much for you .
"Why you ain't making her parents pay for that shit ? They got money"
Your fiancé comes from money . Her family is very wealthy and have very expensive taste . That's why you feel so much pressure to work hard and give her the wedding she deserves.
"How would that look if I asked them that? Her father already hates me"
"Well fuck him them"
"Meg ..."
"I'm serious Y/N . You breaking your back tryna please her family . You know , I warned you about dating her when we were in college"
You sigh and rub your temples
Meg has ways of getting under your skin . You love her like a sister but sometimes you wonder how you remained friends all these years . You've always been about finding love and settling down .. Meg on the other hand is all about the opposite. She runs away from commitment and she expects you to do the same .
You hear a knock on your office door
"Come in" You say
You see Normani walk in with paperwork and she hands it over to you
"Thanks Mani" you say
"Don't forget you have dinner with the wifey and her parents tonight" she says
Normani is not only your assistant but she's also one of your best friends . She went to college with you and Meg . Her and Megan had a relationship but ended horribly . It was hard for you to maintain a friendship with the two because they couldn't stand being around each other .
"I guess I'm just invisible huh?" Says Meg
Normani doesn't even acknowledge her just as you expected.
"Don't be late Y/N . I'll call you to see how it went" she says and then turns to walk back out the door
"She's the only person I know that can hold a grudge for years" says Meg
"You broke her heart" You say
She rolls her eyes "Anyways .. I need you to come with me somewhere tonight"
"Did you not just hear what she said ? I have a dinner to go to . If I'm late Diamonte will kill me"
"Grow some balls Y/N . You won't be late I promise . Plus I have a special surprise for you" she says with her evil smirk
"You know everytime you smirk like that I always end up in trouble"
"I promise you won't wanna miss this" she says
"Fine .. it better be good" You say
You got home to shower and change clothes . You are now sitting in the living room watching tv waiting on Meg to pull up and get you
You hear the front door close and you look back to see Diamonte walking in with bags
"Babeeee" she drags out as always
You smile and get up to help her with the bags
"I'm beginning to think you are addicted to heels" you say as you look inside the bags
"You can never have too many shoes baby" she says
She has a whole closet just for her heels .
She places the bags down and walks over
"I got you something too" she says
She always goes shopping for you too every time she goes shopping . That's one of the reasons you love her . She's always thinking of you
"You know you didn't have to get me anything babe" you say
"I can't go shopping and not buy my other half something too" she says
She walks over to grab your face and kiss you multiple times on your lips
"How was work?" She asks as she drags the bags over to the couch to start going through them
You tell her all about your day and you get so caught up in the conversation that you forget to mention going out with Meg before dinner
You hear a car horn a few times outside and you already know it's Megan
"Who the hell is that?" Asks Diamonte
The neighborhood you live in you barely hear a kid bouncing a basketball outside .
"It's Megan" you say
"Why is she here?"
"She needs my help with something . I won't be gone long" you say
She crosses her arms over her chest and you know that she's pissed
"Did you forget that we have dinner with my parents in a few hours?"
"Baby I won't be late I promise . I just need to help her with something and then I'll be on my way to you" You say
She looks away but says "Fine"
You kiss her cheek "I'll see you in a little bit"
You and Megan end up in the parking lot of a strip club
"This is my surprise?"
"No . You're surprise is inside" she says
"Meg what is this? Why did you bring me here?"
"Let's just say I ran into someone from our past that I think you might wanna see . Plus we need to check out some girls for your bachelorette party"
You decide not to bring up the fact that D doesn't want you to have strippers at your party .. you'd rather not hear Megan rant anymore about how she thinks Diamonte is trying to change you .
"Let's get this over with"
You both enter the club and your guided to a private booth
"So where is my surprise?" You ask
"Be patient . I'll be right back" she says
You watch her walk over to one of the dancers and whisper something in her ear . You turn your attention away from them and watch the dancers
Two girls approach the booth
One then asks you if you want a dance but you decline .
"You sure you don't want a dance baby?" The other asks
"I'm sure" you say
"Give her some space girls .. she said no" you turn your head to see who said that
You can't even believe your eyes right now . It's been so long since you seen her .
The other girls quickly walk away as Nicki comes over to stand in front of you
You still can't believe that she's right here in front of you . She sat down at the booth and you've been catching up on everything you missed in each other's life.
"Marriage huh?" She asks
"Yeah"
"Even though you and Meg were both wild as hell in high school .. I always knew you would be the one to get married"
"Really?"
"You are a great person Y/n and I knew that one day you would make someone very happy"
"Thank you . That means a lot Nicki"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Yeah what's up?"
"What makes her so the one?"
"She motivates me , She reaches out to my family to check on them , put up with all my shit in college , she supports me in everything I choose to do , she was patient with me when I took time choosing a career and she never once made me feel like I wasn't good enough" You say
You now realize how stupid you were being earlier . You were so busy stressing over being good enough and impressing her parents for no reason . SHE CHOSE YOU . She said yes because she loves you
"She sounds very special" she says
"Yeah she is"
"Y'all making me feel like we in high school again" says Meg as she comes over and takes a seat in the booth
"So how did y'all get in contact with each other?" You ask
"Well I came here one night looking for my girl Lex and I happened to run into the Barbie . She really wanted to see you Y/N so I told her I would set it up"
Nicki shyly looks away
You can't help but smile . You always found it cute when she would get shy around you .
You feel your phone vibrate in your pocket so you pull it out and see that it's 9:30 pm
"Oh shit" You say
You have so many missed calls and texts
"She's gonna kill me" you say
Meg pulls out her phone and sees the time
"Shit I'm sorry Y/n . I should've been watching the time"
"You gotta take me home" You say as you scoot out the booth
"Wait Y/n" says Nicki
"I'll be outside waiting" says Megan
"I really want to see you again .. not here of course but maybe lunch or something one day this week?"
"Umm yeah that would be cool"
"Give me your phone" she demands
You never put a lock on your phone because you never felt the need to . You feel as though you are responsible enough to never lose it anywhere or have it stolen
She calls her phone from yours to make sure you have each other numbers
"Call me sometime this week and we can pick a day" she says and hands you back your phone
"Ok"
You didn't get home until 10 and it's completely quiet . Most of the lights are off so you think that maybe she's already in bed sleep. You use your phone light as you slowly walk upstairs to head to your bedroom .
You stand at the door praying that she's already sleep . You try to open the door but it's locked
"Shit" you say
She's definitely pissed and you can only imagine the shit you will have to deal with in the morning
So you head to the guest bedroom downstairs and start taking your clothes off . You feel your phone vibrating so you pull it out of your pocket to see it's a text from a random number
I can't wait to see you again 😘

You sigh and think about how nice it was to see her again . She looks even more beautiful than before . You know you probably shouldn't see her again but what could possibly go wrong ? It will just be a lunch or dinner to catch up .... Nothing more than that .
