I started this when I was watching season 2 & 3 and since I'm a little more than halfway done with season 5, I figured it was the perfect time to finish this
"Hey Catra, I got the materials Entrapta needed, and I um...I have-" You pulled out a long but thin parcel from behind your back with a card on top, you've been meaning to give it to Catra for awhile now, you hoped this was the perfect time.
"Why're you telling me this?! Go give that tech stuff to Entrapta and leave me alone! Can't you see I'm busy?!" Catra scolded you, you hid the parcel again.
"Yeah, can't you see that Wildcat's busy?" Scorpia added, for some reason she hated you and constantly let you know that.
"Oh, right ok..." you walked away as you glanced at Catra one more time and sighed, why couldn't she see how you felt about her?
"Here's the stuff you asked for Entrapta" you dumped it on an empty space on the table and looked up, seeing Entrapta asleep on her couch. You smiled, she was probably the best thing that ever happened to the Horde, and not just because of the weapons she built. You put a blanket over her before you felt a nudge to your side.
"Hey Emily, I'm glad she's sleeping too. I wasn't able to give the thing to Catra this time, but hopefully next time. What do you think?" Emily walked over to the entrance and pointed to it, making your eyes widen in realization.
"Give it to her now? No I couldn't possibly do that! She's way too busy!...besides Scorpia's with her and well...she likes everybody but me...you know what maybe I should just give up...she's not interested in me anyway, no one is." You muttered as you at the foot of the couch, head lowered.
"Hey (Y/N), we have more files...oh my gosh you're crying, are you ok? I know I've been a little apprehensive to you but I didn't think I'd make you cry, oh gosh what should I do? Do you want some tea? Maybe a blanket? Oh I know! I can wrap you in a blanket and give you a big ol' hug, will that help?" Scorpia asked you, you raised a brow at her outburst before touching your cheek, finding an unfamiliar wetness there. It seems you were crying after all.
"It's not you Scorpia, it's not anyone...well except for me..." you took out the parcel you kept before your grip tightened around it, feeling a sense of hopelessness and uselessness.
"I'm such an idiot!" you threw it, making it skid on the floor, Emily nudged against you, giving you comforting beeps.
"Oh don't say that, you're super smart! The smartest person I know really, well actually Entrapta's the smartest, but let's be honest she's a total genius! But you're still the second smartest person I know" Scorpia tried to reassure you as she retrieved the parcel before holding it out for you, gently between her pincers, you glanced at it before looking away.
"I...I don't want to carry that anymore..."
"But...but it says to Catra from (Y/N), that means you have to give it to her! Even if we're kinda competing to be her best friend..."
"I...I never wanted to be her best friend..." you sniffled, Scorpia scooted into your view again.
"Well what did you want her to be to you? I mean, you offered to take care of all those files for her and you keep helping her out whenever you can just like I've been doing, if you ask me I couldn't possibly imagine anything else other than you wanting to be her bestest friend in the whole Horde." You turned yourself away from her, well there was no point in hiding it now right? Catra would never like you back anyway.
"I um...I...I wanted to well...I just...I like Catra, ok?" You told Scorpia turning away again.
"Like Catra? Of course you do, everyone likes her."
"I don't mean like that Scorpia...I mean like like."
"Like, like? You mean THE like, like?" You nodded, having given up on turning away from Scorpia.
"So there are no best friend feelings? At all?"
"No, no best friend feelings"
"Oh that's a huge relief! I thought you were trying to be Catra's best friend! But how're you going to tell her how you feel?"
"I've been trying to, but she doesn't want to hear it from me...maybe I should just give up..."
"No you shouldn't! You just have to keep trying to tell her! Maybe when you're on duty and she expects you to do things, you need to tell her at a specific time and specific place, well at least I think so...maybe we should ask Entrapta to-"
"I'll do it! Oh this will be an interesting experiment, a very interesting experiment indeed!" Entrapta grinned, popping up from the couch.
"Uh...how long have you been awake?"
"Since you put that blanket on me, I have been a little interested in social experiments lately...oh! I heard everything, and I want to help!"
"Alright...what do you suggest we do?"
-Timeskip-
"Ok! All set!" Entrapta grinned, you looked up at the helmet on your head.
"Uh...is this safe?" You pointed at the clunky helmet on your head.
"Of course! There's only a 33% chance it'll explode, but don't worry, things explode on my head all the time and look how I turned out!" Entrapta grinned at you, you exchanged a look with Scorpia who smiled and put her pincer on your shoulder reassuringly.
"It's only a 33% chance, what could go wrong?"
"I heard that before...ok Entrapta boot up this machine...wait, what's the point of this machine?"
"It's an imaging test...well sorta...I'm going to show you pictures of Catra and that machine is going to monitor your brainwaves and depending on which images you like the most they'll help us figure out the ideal scenario for you to gain the most confidence and confess to her! Alright! Let's do this!" Entrapta flipped the switch and a picture of a startled Catra appeared on the screen in front of you, you couldn't help but snicker at it.
"Fascinating...Image two!" A new, angrier Catra appeared on screen, making you jump a little.
"Hmm...very fascinating indeed...Image three!" You saw Catra doing paperwork for once and smiled, your eyes softening at how concentrated she looked.
"Ok! Now Image four!" It was a picture of Catra and Adora fighting...wait...Adora, Adora and Catra knew each other since they were kids. Adora knows everything about Catra inside and out...like her favorite color, what she likes...possibly even who she likes or at least her type...
"Entrapta! I know what to do now! Can you track the sword of She-Ra?" You jumped out of your seat and grabbed Entrapta by the shoulders.
"Hmm...well I don't see why not...I mean it is First One's tech with a very specific signature so...of course I can!" Entrapta grinned.
"Do you think you can set up a trackpad to locate the sword?"
"Yeah! That's child's play! Why?"
"I'm going to find Adora, please Entrapta, can you help me out?" You begged her, holding out a standard trackpad that every Horde member was regulated to have, Entrapta thought for a moment.
"Ok! Give me a minute or less!" She took your trackpad and went to her workstation, putting on her welding mask as sparks began to come from the pad.
"(Y/N)? Are you sure going after the Princesses all by yourself is the best idea?" Scorpia asked, pulling you aside.
"I'm not going to fight them, and the more I keep you in the dark, the better"
"Uh, why?"
"Because, if Catra asks where I am you have to cover for me, please Scorpia?"
"Hmm, alright, I'll be like an iron cage. Nothing will be able to get through."
"Done!"
"That was fast"
"I told you it would be a minute or less!"
"Thanks Entrapta, I appreciate it" you looked at the trackpad quickly before smiling at your friends and leaving the room
"Not a problem! Have fun!" Entrapta grinned as she waved.
"...is Catra going to get mad that we let her go off by herself to face the Princesses? I'm just asking for y'know...Emily's sake" Scorpia patted Emily.
"Oh, we're totally going to get ripped apart!" Entrapta replied in her usual happy tone as she continued working, Scorpia gulped nervously as Emily began to nuzzle her in reassurence.
-Timeskip-
You followed the track pad locked on the Sword of She-Ra.
"They must've stopped for a break...good...they won't be battle ready, that'll at least give me a chance to get a few words in." You sighed, starting to rethink your plan, the skiff was holding steady so you took out the parcel and retied the ribbon on the front even though it had no significance holding the parcel together. Your trackpad beeped, letting you know that you were close, you got back to the controls and decresed the speed as you went into the clearing.
"Gah! Horde skiff!" Plants surrounded the skiff and stopping it by crushing the hull, as vines wrapped around your body and restricted your movements.
"Hey! I come in peace! Peace!" You tried to wave your hands as the vines stopped.
"State your business Horde soldier!" A girl in purple and blue appeared in front of you, she looked like she was five and even though you were in a less than ideal situation you couldn't help but laugh.
"Ha! You're like, 5, ok c'mon kid where's the real Princess-? Ow!"
"Don't call Glimmer a kid Horde scum!" You barely got a glance at a girl in blue with an ice spear before you were pulled forward by the other girl.
"I am a real princess, and you'll find out how real I am if you don't answer our questions. How did you find us and what are you doing here?" Her other fist lit up in sparkles as you tried to hold back your laughter, the madder she looked, the less seriously you could take her.
"I came to talk to Adora, she's here isn't she?"
"I'm the one asking the questions here-"
"Adora! Someone from the Horde wants to talk to you!" The other little girl with the spear called out.
"Frosta! We don't know her intentions yet!" The girl threatening you scolded.
"Oh...sorry..."
"What? Oh hey (Y/N), I thought someone actually dangerous was coming through, no offense. What brings you here though?"
"I need to talk to you, privately, if the kids you're babysitting will let me go."
"Glimmer, Frosta stand down, (Y/N)'s alright."
"What?! But this could be a trap, you know how the Horde are..." a boy with arrows whispered to Adora while pointing his bow towards you.
"I heard that, but I don't take any offense to that"
"(Y/N)'s actually pretty truthful...for someone in the Horde...if she wanted to fight she would've brought more than a trackpad and a skiff."
"I still don't trust her, whatever she has to say she can say to all of us" a third Princess came out from behind the plants.
"It's actually kinda...personal? But we'll be out in the open where you could see us if you absolutely think Adora's in danger."
"Guys it's fine, really-"
"If she does anything, scream, I'll freeze her before she can make another move" Frosta threatened as the four went off into the distance and the vines retreated off you, lowering you to the ground again.
"So much for the welcoming committee, and the Princesses are nicer than the Horde?" You commented, gesturing to Adora's new friends who were huddled and glaring at you from time to time.
"Come on, you know exactly what would happen if you did the same thing in the Horde." Adora pointed out.
"Don't I know it? It was covered in Force Captain Orientation. Anyway, I need to talk to you about Catra."
"Catra? Is she ok? Did anything happen to her?" Adora asked worriedly, making you shake your head.
"What? No! She's fine, busy, but fine and I well...I know that you've known her for a long time and stuff so...would she like this?" You opened the parcel to show Adora.
"Aww, this is amazing, quality metal too, but why are you giving her this? It's not exactly Horde policy to share." Adora admired the item before putting it back.
"I well..." your cheeks slowly turned red. "Can you just...tell me everything you know about her? Please?"
"Uh yeah, I guess...what do you want to know?"
"Everything from her favorite color to what helps her de-stress besides punching things. Everything! Please Adora!" You begged, wanting to do the shoulder-shake thing like you used to, but not wanting to trigger the princesses, Adora sighed.
"I don't know what you're doing this for but if you came to me you must be desperate. Alright take a seat on one of Perfuma's plants, there's a lot to cover." You nodded and sat down on the stalk as Adora began to tell you everything.
-Meanwhile-
"(Y/N)! (Y/N)! Scorpia! Entrapta! Where's (Y/N)?!" Catra demanded.
"(Y/N)...(Y/N)...who is this (Y/N) person again? It doesn't ring a bell to me, nope not a single bell." Scorpia shook her head, Catra growled as she facepalmed.
"I don't have time for this Scorpia! Entrapta! Where is (Y/N)!?"
"Oh...uh...well I can't tell you"
Emily beeped and Catra growled.
"She went to see Adora?! When?!"
Emily beeped once more.
"You let her go out into the unknown with a bunch of Princesses about an hour ago! Get me her location, now!"
"Oh um, we can't do that, she took the only trackpad coded to track Adora's sword" Catra growled, hating that she left her trackpad in her room.
"Fine, I'll just find her with her Force Captain badge. Scorpia, I'm taking a skiff to find (Y/N)." Catra replied in a scary-calm tone.
"Again, who is this (Y/N)?" Catra rolled her eyes as she left.
"What did I tell you? Top knotch acting skills, she didn't suspect a thing" Scorpia announced proudly.
"No, I don't think so, at least from you anyway. But Emily did kinda blow that one, but then again it's not like (Y/N) made Emily promise so that's alright, right?"
"Sounds alright to me, (Y/N) is going to be so proud of us when she gets back!"
"We should celebrate with tiny cupcakes, I brought some along with my stuff!"
"Yes! We totally should! Great idea Entrapta!"
-TImeskip/Meanwhile-
"This is very useful stuff! Thanks so much Adora, I know Catra so much better now!"
"It's not a problem (Y/N), how is Catra now?"
"She's busy and barely has any time for anyone anymore. I hoped this present might cheer her up a little but I haven't been able to give it to her." You answered, putting the parcel behind you again.
"I think she'll love it, but I'm sorry about your skiff." You and Adora looked over at the vehicle as a metal panel fell out with sparks coming from the hull.
"Yeah, if I ride that thing I'll probably die, I'll just walk on foot." You shrugged, but the look on your face said that you would dread the walk.
"Well good luck-" Adora went to pat you on the back.
*crash*
Another skiff came into view with Catra on it.
"(Y/N)!? What're you doing here?! Are you with the enemy now!?" Catra questioned you, glancing between Adora and the others who got ready for battle.
"No! Of course not-"
"Come on, we need to get out of here before the others come to their senses." Catra hissed at you, but held out her hand anyway to help you get on. You took it as she pulled you up, before shooting off into the woods, before you lost sight of Adora, you gave her an apologetic smile. But when you lost sight of them you turned to say something to Catra, only to find her tail lashing back and forth at a speed you've never seen before.
"Catra...I uh-" you went to take the parcel from behind your back when her heterochromatic eyes practically cut into you, making you freeze mid-sentence.
"Or not..." you backed away from her, sitting on the other side of the skiff as you lowered your gaze, this was going to be a long ride.
-Timeskip-
"Why did you do it? Why did you go after Adora by yourself?" Catra questioned with her cool anger, which was worse than her regular anger.
"I just...I just wanted to-"
"Just wanted to what?! Capture Adora to get in Hordak's good graces!? Prove yourself to the Horde?! What could possibly justify what you did?" Catra questioned, but she didn't turn around to face you, your eyes lowered to the floor.
"I just...I wanted to learn more about you. You're so closed off from everyone and the only person who ever truly knew you was Adora, I just wanted to ask her a few things..." you sighed, as Catra took in a deep breath.
"Why would you do that then? Why would you want to get to know me better?" Catra asked you, you hesitantly got up and walked over to where she was steering the skiff.
"Because..." you sighed, "I just wanted to give you this, and I didn't know if you would like it. I'm sorry for sneaking out like that, you can give me whatever punishment you see fit when we get back to the Horde." You placed the parcel on the floor before making your way back to the other side as you huddled into a ball. Behind you Catra looked between you and the parcel, picking it up and opening it as she kept the bar that she had to hold onto between her elbow and side. Her eyes widened at the gift as she held it up, it was the same design that she currently had, but it was a darker red and based on the shine of it under the sun she tell that it was made of a better metal than her current one. She glanced over to you, her ears drooping a little before straightening herself up and taking off her current headpiece, letting it clatter to the floor. You looked up as you saw her adjust the one you gave her.
"It's uh...nice...good job..." Catra muttered, avoiding your eye, you smiled and turned your head back to the front of the skiff.
"Thanks Catra." You decided to confess another day, but you now it felt that things were changing for the better, making your smile widen, as you couldn't wait to see what the future held in store for you.
