Not always in life we have everything the way we planned. The one writing our destiny and making us dance on his tunes has the power to ruin our plans, but mind you, it's always for the better and sometimes for the best. A child cries for a smaller teddy bear not knowing that his parents have already brought for him a bigger one. We do behave like that child, not seldom but all the times.
As the morning sun rose and he got ready to leave his house and meet Anika the way he does everyday, he was met with disappointment instead. Not because he didn't meet Anika, he did, but she didn't talk to him the way she would usually do.
Last night was terrible for him as he didn't sleep even for a minute. Out of nowhere he was feeling lonely, he was missing his grandfather's embrace, he was missing his grandmother's lap where he could sleep peacefully even if he was having a nightmare. He was tired of fighting alone. He missed his Dadu who used to solve all his problems in a minute. His tears kept running down his cheeks unknowingly.
His body was telling him not to move a muscle. His whole body felt like it was frozen. He felt his forehead burning but Anika was all he had on his mind. He wanted to see her reaction after what he said to her last night. But here she was silent, as if she had reserved herself in a shel to protect herself from danger. The more frustrating part was the danger that he didn't know about.
He wanted to cancel all his meetings but he didn't because today Mrs. Leena was lacking staff members in the canteens. The scared cat Mrs. Leena is when it comes to making a good impression on her boss aka him, he knew she would send Anika when snacks will be served to the clients. So he let the meeting continue the way it was scheduled.
He didn't expect Anika to look at him, but he found her stealing glances at him. He was surprised would be an understatement when Anika didn't ignore him. He didn't let her know that he got to know that she's looking at him, instead he kept observing her behaviour that was weird.
Anika, on the other hand, was still thinking about Shivinder's words. He didn't know the matter but gave her a suggestion she found apt. She can't avoid someone all her life, especially if that person is trying so hard to not leave her alone.
When she was ordered to get the beverages and snacks to the private breakroom, she couldn't help but look or to say steal glances at the man she was thinking about since morning. Okay okay ! Since last two days.
Unconsciously though, but her thoughts were now about his pale face and swollen eyes, as if he cried too much. Did he ? The thought of him crying forced her to think about her words, scratch that, Harsh words. Was he crying because of her ? Was she the reason that he was looking so defeated ? She felt herself getting engulfed by deeper thoughts.
Now when she was giving it a thought, she realised, may be Shivaay's words didn't mean what she interpreted. May be his words held another meaning.
"You keep an eye on Tej and I'll take care of Anika."
Now the words made sense. May be he meant to say that Khanna should keep an eyes on Tej and he will take care of her, which could mean anything and that included protecting her. How could she be a fool ? How could she forget the day she was kidnapped once again and it was Shivaay who saved her ?
Her head was ready to burst with so much of stress. Somehow she continued doing her work. For once she was thankful to the employees who kept popping in the canteen and that kept her busy so that she didn't think much about the blue eyed bea... man.
When finally she was a bit free of work, she looked at the clock that struck 5 in the evening. She made her way towards the restroom as she badly wanted to wash her face. She was sure she looked as neat as a nest, don't forget the sarcasm.
Her feet halted on their own as she heard a manly voice. More than the voice but her name that urged her to stop. She took few steps in the direction where the voice was coming from. Eavesdropping wasn't a good thing but she couldn't help it when she wanted answers to her questions.
"Our priority is to catch Tej Singh Oberoi. You just concentrate on that." Khanna's voice was firm and... rude. Why wouldn't it be, the man was Shivaay Singh Oberoi's 'girlfriend'. The company does leave an impact, Anika giggled as she giggled silently. In such a serious situation she was thinking rubbish.
"No need to tell me. Anika mam's protection is also important, I know. But for that Shivaay sir is there. He'll die but won't let anything happen to Anika mam." The voice broke her thoughts but the last words sent shivers down her spine, as if she had been thrown in a ice puddle. The words made her cheeks warm, don't know why.
She hid herself immidiately as she saw Khanna coming towards her. He had a doubtful look on his face which means he found someone was eavesdropping or may be sneaking in the office. Gladly he was not doubtful about someone's presence behind him but another matter. He left from there and Anika sighed.
She ran back towards the restroom and washed her face. Even after splashing such cold water her cheeks were warm. The effect of the blue eyed man !
She was still so confused. Despite knowing so much, she had so many 'what ifs' in her list of concerns with 'What if he broke her trust and her heart again ?' being on top.
She so wanted Gauri to be here so that she could share everything with her. She couldn't share it with her because Gauri would come back leaving whatever she is doing to be with her. She just wanted to talk her heart out, although she wouldn't have accepted any advice from her, afterall, her best friend Gauri is so biased when the matter concerns Shivaay Singh Oberoi.
Shivaay was so tired by the end of the day that he felt like ripping his body apart to get rid of this weakness. He felt helpless to the point he wanted to slouch against a wall and never get up. But it was eight in the evening and Anika would be waiting for him, actually for Shivinder. He chuckled in such a humourless way that if walls had feelings, they would've cried.
Khanna tried to make him understand that he needs rest and that he should go to Oberoi Mansion for now. But being the stubborn man he is, he didn't want to go and leave Anika alone. Khanna's promises about Anika's safety didn't stop Shivaay from getting ready as Shivinder and then hopping on an auto.
Anika greeted Shivinder and got in the auto and remained silent after that. She couldn't bring herself to believe what she heard from khanna. Everytime she thought about it she felt goosebumps all over her body. What could be the reason that Shivaay himself would die but won't let anything happen to her ?
She felt herself jerked forward due to the sudden halting of the auto. Had it not been the arm that was wrapped around her belly and the other arm that wrapped around her shoulders, she would've banged her head somewhere.
"Get out of the way." The auto driver yelled even if he was hell scared within.
She looked up and then on her side. The sight was not pleasant at all. The men staring at her didn't give her good vibes. But somehow, the grip on her was so firm yet gentle that she felt she was as safe as she would be in heaven. That might sound rubbish and cliché but that was what she felt.
"Get the girl." She heard a tall man with a bulging belly say and the two who were standing on her side outside the auto, tried to grab her wrist. In an instant she was pulled more into an embrace that she knew belonged to Shivinder but she felt it was someone else'.
Her mind, even in this scary situation was drawn towards Shivaay. She felt secure the way she felt once in Oberoi mansion, when Shivaay punched Tej Singh Oberoi and held her from her waist. She felt safe that day and she felt safe now too.
"I said go Anika, run away from here !" She was pulled away harshly and she looked at Shivinder's face that looked so tired and at the same time, angry. He was yelling at her for God knows how long. It was evident on his face but what shocked and scared her more was the cut on his forearm. The way blood covered his arm, hands and shirt it was clear that the cut was deep.
"Yo.. you're hurt.. I don't.." She could say only this through her stuttering teeth as her whole body was shaking from fear but Shivinder's shout scared her even more as he snapped her sentence.
"Just. Go." Saying so Shivinder pushed her a bit but she still stood there looking at him with tears in her eyes. She didn't want to leave him alone. She looked behind her to see the goons who.. who were fighting with Shivaay's security men ? She recognised them from their uniforms. But what they were doing here ?
She was still contemplating all this when she felt herself being pushed to the hard and rough metalled road and her back hitting the road. She felt weight on herself. As she opened her eyes fearing to face what she might encounter, she saw Shivinder hugging her with all his might and the goons beating him.
She wanted to push him away because she knew those goons were behind her. She didn't want anyone to suffer because of her. But he didn't leave her. His body was burning with fever still he was holding her tight.
It was then that she noticed something unexpected. His eyes, the blue eyes that were as tired as Shivaay's eyes today. She wasn't able to understand anything when...
