Wizardry and witchcraft have many different parts to them.

There are plenty of spell classes to choose from, starting with basics like charms and all the way up to conjuration. If one wishes, they can learn how to manipulate the elements of the universe. The over-achievers try to learn it all, but one never has enough time for that.

Besides the spells, there are potions and other physical creations that can be learned from magic. Enchanted weapons, jewelry, and clothing makers are incredibly wealthy artists that infuse their creations with magic that entice someone of every different need. Potions are used frequently in common households.

Most people who follow magic of any kind respect the other components of it. However, this story is about two young men that just don't get along.

Roman Prince was an incredible spell caster, capable of creating vivid illusions and manipulating different elements of nature around him. He could levitate things into the air, conjure fire and water at will, and make plant life obey him. His skill was unmatched by any other spell casters in the town he lived in.

Virgil Black was an incredible enchantment craftsman, capable of granting objects with magical abilities and crafting potions to give or take away skills and sensations from people. He could make necklaces that gave the wearer super strength and potions that could take away physical pain. His skill was unmatched by any other enchantment craftsmen in the town he lived in.

Two experts at their own forms of magic; both confident in their abilities. One would think they would have high respect for each other, but the arguments their neighbors overhear on a constant basis would suggest otherwise.

Virgil and Roman lived next to each other. This lead to quite interesting encounters overheard by their neighbors.

"Black, I've told you before not to pick the nightshade from my garden!"

"Oh like you need it for your little light shows! Nightshade's a valuable ingredient that you're letting go to waste because of how glitter-filled your head is."

"Excuse me?! Did you just refer to my spells as 'light shows'? That's actually rich coming from the brewer of luminescent fruit punch!"

"It's not fruit punch!"

"PRINCEY! ARE YOU PLAYING WITH FIRE OVER THERE?!"

"Perhaps I am, why does it concern YOU?"

"BECAUSE MY WILLOW TREE ALMOST CAUGHT ON FIRE!!"

"No it didn't! I have everything under control! How dare you doubt my abilities!! And even if I did burn down your tree, can't you brew a potion to regrow one super fast or whatever?"

"THAT IS NOT HOW POTIONS WORK YOU IMBECILE!"

Needless to say, Virgil and Roman have never gotten along, but people often wonder if their hatred for each other was to cover up true feelings of admiration. It wouldn't be too far fetched considering both were proudly out as gay, and those who believed this to be the case ended up being right in the end.

Virgil sighed to himself as the sky above grumbled aggressively. Lightning was flashing, illuminating the blackened clouds and causing the air to grow charged. He wasn't comfortable being out during a storm like this, but the market would certainly be deserted. He could go and collect some water from the fountain instead of trekking into the woods to the stream.

Unfortunately for him, it wasn't deserted. He just to happened to bump into Roman Prince, who was sitting on the edge of the fountain and watching the sky attentively. An orb of light hovered in the hand that was raised and level with his head.

At first neither of them knew what to say, but the argument began quickly enough.

"What are you doing out here during a storm?" Roman questioned, looking him up and down seemingly in disgust.

"I could ask you the same thing," Virgil shot back.

The spell caster scoffed. "I don't see how that's your business."

"And I don't see how my decisions are your business either," he continued, raising his chin as he approached the fountain.

"Oh please, do you have to be so temperamental?" the other man huffed.

Virgil whipped his head toward him. "I'm temperamental?"

That's how the fight began, the two of them bickering in the middle of the abandoned market place as a lightning storm raged above their heads. They barely noticed it was there until a shrill scream filled the night air after a particularly bright flash of lightning.

"What was that?" Roman said, conflict immediately slipping from his mind.

Virgil was just as alert. "I'm not sure, but it sounded like someone was hurt. Come on, this way," he rushed out.

They broke into a run toward the sound of the scream. They found themselves just on the edge of the woods where a huge tree had been struck by lightning. Fortunately, if it had caught fire, it was only briefly. However, the source of the scream turned out to be too young boys. They were trapped underneath the severed trunk of the tree. One of them was crying while the other called for help.

"Help is here! What's happened?!" Virgil exclaimed, running toward them.

"We're trapped! That trunk is crushing our legs! We can't move!" the calmer one explained. He was still panicked, but seemed more focused on the boy crying next to him than his own fear. "Please! Patton is very scared!"

Roman eyed the tree quickly. "I can lift it, but only briefly," he told the other man seriously. "Get them out as quickly as you can."

The potion maker opened his mouth to protest but the spell caster raised his hands and muttered something under his breath. His hands began to glow and the tree trunk shook just a little. He grunted with effort, feeling the weight of the tree as though it was laying on his chest. However, the children's frightened voices rung clearly and he pushed through.

He lifted the tree higher and Virgil rushed forward, pulling the boys out from under it quickly. As soon as they were clear, Roman let the trunk fall. He collapsed to his knees while panting with exhaustion.

"It's alright, you're okay," the potion maker was telling the children. He was pulling out vials of glowing liquid. He poured some light blue liquid over the legs of the boys, which were badly scrapped and bruised from the tree. In front of their eyes, their wounds healed. He then handed each of them a small vial of dark purple liquid. "This is for the shock. You're both alright."

Once the boys were calmed down, Virgil told them to go home. They thanked them and quickly hurried off, gripping each others' hand tightly. The potion maker sighed and then remembered the man he'd helped them with.

Roman was still kneeling on the ground. He was trembling and still panting as though he was out of breath. "Princey? Uh, are you alright?" he asked, kneeling down in front of him. The spell caster nodded weakly but it was obvious the effort of lifting such a large tree trunk was taking a toll on him. "Come on, I've got more potions at home that will help with the stress you're under."

Virgil looped an arm around the other man's shoulders and they gradually made their way home. Instead of splitting up and going into their separate homes however, they both entered one.

The potion maker laid the spell caster gently onto his couch and fetched him a glowing golden liquid. "Here, drink this."

"Is it poisoned?" he snapped halfheartedly.

"Oh shut up, it's to help rejuvenate your mind and body," Virgil said, rolling his eyes as the man took the potion. Roman looked at him curiously, eyes wide and questioning. With a sigh, he cut him off before he began, flushing. "Oh shut up, I'm only helping you cause it's the right thing to do. I do not like you."

The spell caster smirked. "I think you totally do."

"I do NOT like you!" he insisted, blushing more.

Roman chuckled and smiled, relaxing into the couch and closing his eyes. He reached out and grasped Virgil's hand. "Thank you," he murmured quietly. The other man looked surprised at the motion but decided to squeeze it reassuringly.

"You're welcome Princey..."
