I woke up to a Wedesday morning, protecting myself from the sunlight leaking through the curtains of my bedroom which now seemed too bright to my newly-opened eyes.

I slid myself out of bed and looked out of my second window which looked right through Riley's room. All I could see was Riley sleeping, looking adorable as usual, but then someone else walked in. Tristan. Ugh, this early in the morning? I didn't need this. I knew he had stopped to stare at me but I just ignored him and went to the bathroom.

What was he doing there anyway? I've never seen him before in my life. Actually... I felt like I've been around him before. Oh nevermind.

After I had done all the essentials, I went downstairs to make myself some breakfast. In the end, I ended with some cereal. I scrunched up the pieces in my mouth, that promised a perfect body in three weeks. I didn't really care about having a perfect body, I was already thin enough.

I wanted to go out. Like always. I ran upstairs to change into some skinny jeans and a loose t-shirt then I practically ran out the house. I walked to the only lake in town, which took around fifteen to twenty minutes, but it was worth it.

I remember coming here every weekend with my dad. We would stare at the water and talk about how the week was before he would buy me ice cream. I always got the same one everytime; three scoops of chocolate ice cream, with nuts and chocolate sauce on top. Calling me a chocoholic would be an understatement.

I wonder what my dad was doing now, what he was up to. I hadn't seen him in about ten years... for certain... reasons. I sat there daydreaming when I felt someone sit down next to me, I looked to see who it was, it turned out to be Tristan.

"What are you doing here?" I snapped at him without meaning to.

"I couldn't stay away from you." oh god. He thought that was going to work?

"Listen, I met you yesterday, so stop pestering me with all these cheesy lines because I'm in love with someone else who happens to be one of your friends. Okay?" I sounded so mean and harsh but I just had to say it. But as soon as I did, I regretted it because he had a heartbroken expression on his face that made me feel like all the words I had said, was a lie.

"Oh. Sorry. I guess I should think more about your side of this." I gulped seeing how innocent he looked and how much it attracted me.

"My side of what?"

"The mate thing." mate? What mate thing? I'm not British and I'm not a boy!

"Huh?"

He looked me directly in the eyes so that brown met blue, his hair slightly infront of his face blowing in the wind, his cheeks a faint colour of pink as he whispered words I wasn't expecting which sent a burning fire sweep through my veins.

"You're my mate Scar."

I didn't know what to say. I don't know what he meant by those words but somehow it was all too familiar. As if I had heard it all before.

"Right. Wanna explain what that means?"

"It means that I'll want you and only you as long as I'll ever live."

"Please stop with the cheesy lines."

"It's not cheesy! It's true!"

"Right."

"Look, I didn't want a mate either, especially someone like you. So we'll just have to work it out and deal with it. Okay?" ouch... that hurts. Eventhough I had just met him yesterday, I knew that he was going to have a potential temper tantrum. But I didn't care.

"Don't you get what I'm saying to you? I. Don't. Want. You. I like someone else! And if you think I'm so bad, why do you even want to be my 'mate' or whatever the heck you call it?!" I got up and screamed at him.

"You like someone you barely know about!"

"Well, I don't need to talk to someone I know nothing about." and with that, I walked away from him to my own house. Yes, house, I wouldn't call it a home.

I opened the door and then slammed it shut louder than I expected. I stomped my way upstairs, each footstep like a thousand sounds of thunder all at once. I opened my bedroom door just as I heard my mom call out my name downstairs and I paused, calming down my rage. I sighed and then replied to her.

"Yeah?" my voice was loud enough for her to hear but to me, it sounded like a croaky, weak noise.

"Can you take Jamie next door to Luke's? Oh and keep an eye on them. Last time, I had to..." the only part that I had heard was the first part. Luke was Riley's little brother. God dammit! Why me?! I hate life!

"No! Why don't you take him?"

"I'm busy!"

I was about to shout down 'I have got a life too you know!' but I just shut my mouth and barged into Jamie's room. He wasn't there. I ran downstairs into the living room to find him in all his soccer stuff. How many sports does he do?!

"Fine!" I said in my raged voice, I grabbed Jamie's arm and dragged him out the house. I loosened my grip because I knew I was hurting him but he was too scared to say anything about it. I took his small hand in mine and went over to Riley's and knocked on the door. In a few seconds, he opened it and I nearly lost my breath by the sight of him, but not as much as all those years back for some reason.

"Oh hey Scar." he nodded to me. "Hey Jamie!" he said in a completely different voice while ruffling Jamie's hair, making him laugh. I smiled at him, losing all my anger and stress at Tristan, and looked at him playing with my brother.

"Hi. Umm, Jamie here was going to play soccer with Luke. And apparently I have to keep a look out on them."

"Oh don't worry, I'll look after them." awh... he was so sweet...

"Actually, I don't have anything else to do right now, so I might as well."

"Oh, well, in that case, come on in." he replied with that smile of his. I smiled back as I let Jamie rush in first and then I followed with Riley closing the door behind me. His house smelt so earthy and like the forest, I liked it. I followed Jamie to their backyard and I felt self-conscious because I knew that Riley was looking at me from behind. My cheeks flushed as Jamie and Luke made their greetings.

"Well, come on, I don't think you'd want to stand there all day." Riley said as he motioned me to follow him to some chairs. I followed him and sat down next to him. "So, how are you?"

"I'm good, you?"

"I'm great." he yawned and stretched out his arms then grinned at me. "How's Tristan?"

What did he just say?!

"Tristan? He's your friend, isn't he?" grrrr... what the hell had Tristan told Riley?

"Yeah, he is." he replied. "I just-"

"Look, I really don't know what he said to you, or if he said something about 'mates' but to me, it means nothing and I don't give a tiny rat's ass about Tristan."

He looked at me for a while and then burst into laughter. I was glad I was the one I made him laugh, so I just watched him laugh and smiled at it.

"You should tell Tristan that."

"Actually, I will. Do you know where he is?" he deserves a piece of my mind.

"Uh, yeah, he's here." I followed Riley's gaze behind me where I found Tristan standing there glaring at me shirtless. I gulped, taking in his angered look but more like taking in his perfect, toned, tanned abs.

"Uhm, hi there Tristan." I said to him, trying not too sound nervous, but failing to do so. Then all of a sudden, I was being carried away by Tristan himself and hearing Riley's laughter. He effortlessly carried me to some room that I suspected was his. I didn't know he lived here! How could I not know?!

I found myself being thrown against a bed and I heard the locking of the door. My heart started banging in my chest as I looked up to the person I had just met yesterday.

"Oh, I'm sorry, am I scaring you?" he smirked and raised an eyebrow, looking so hot it hurt my eyes. He put the key into his pocket and stared at me.

"Not at all." I smirked back and crossed my legs eventhough I was kind of terrified of what I thought might happen. He crouched down next to me and moved his face closer as I moved mine back. He started to move himself closer as I moved my whole body back, like a predator who had just spotted his prey. "What do you want?"

"You." his hot breath grazed my neck as he brushed my hair aside and placed his hand on the side of my neck.

"You know, you shouldn't touch what you can't have." I saw him smile and then look up to me with intense brown eyes that almost looked nervous.

"Tough. I make my own rules." and before I knew what he meant, he had sunk his teeth into the curve of where my neck blends into my shoulder. At first it hurt and I let out a shriek of pain but then I felt myself press into Tristan's body and then his arm coil around my waist binding me to him as he bit me. My tight grasp on his shoulders relaxed as a wave of new emotions sweeped through my whole body, rushing through my veins and making my heart pump more blood around. I felt refreshed and I felt like something inside of me was captured but it was good to feel owned by an invisible force. But I didn't know what. It was like something else was connected to me, and it felt great.

His lips left my neck and as soon as he did so, I jumped off of the bed and backed away from him until my back made contact with wall. I was scared of him, but there was another side of me that was more intrigued by him than scared.

He wiped my blood away from his lips as dark red blood dripped from my neck onto the floor.

Our eyes never left eachother as he began to make his way over to me and put his hands on either side of my waist on the wall. He bent his head closer to my ear as his shirtless body pressed onto mine.

"Don't talk to Riley again unless friendship is all you want." I swallowed as I realised how attracted to him I was and for once, Riley wasn't in my mind until he had said that sentence.

"You can't tell me what to do."

"I think I just did." I would have replied to that but then his lips went back to the bite as he licked the blood away, I clenched my fists at my sides and I realised both of us were breathing more deeper and faster but I didn't want him to know I was enjoying it.

He backed his head away as he looked into my eyes leaning his head closer to that our lips were centimetres away. As he was just about to kiss me, I found the will to stop everything. I put my hand over his mouth and his melted chocolate brown eyes were puzzled.

"Don't you dare." I said. He rolled his eyes, grabbed my hand away then crushed his lips onto mine. As soon as we made contact, my lips and body were both yearning for him and only him with a passion and desperation so hot and fierce that I forgot about Riley altogether.

His hand was resting on my cheek then it slid down my neck as butterflies errupted in my stomach and my knees became weak. One minute his hands were playing with my hair, the next they were gripping my waist so that I was pushed up against him.

I knew myself that deep down, I wanted him. But there were too many things stopping me. I pushed him away from me without looking at him.

"Give me the keys." I spoke out quietly, my voice a feeble sound. Eventhough I was looking at the floor, I knew that he'd be confused. I heard him sigh then go over to unlock the door. I went out of it without a word but not before glancing back at him. He had turned his body so that he was looking away from me, and he was rubbing the back of neck with one hand. Like he was wondering what to do next.
