Painting isn't a joke

"There!" Jamie moved away from the board. "Now all we need is a few pen, watercolors and some poster paints."

Erin opened a tube of watercolor and dipped the paintbrush. He almost painted jamie's drawing when she stopped him.

"STOP!" Jamie snatched the paintbrush and the watercolor tube away. "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MARBLES! THIS WATERCOLOR TUBE BRAND IS TOO WATERY! DON"T YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!?"

"Actually, no." Erin bluntly said. Jamie buried her hands in her face and started cursing in Italian.

"Ok, ok. I'm calm." Jamie soothed herself. "It's ok Jamie. He's not a painter. So it's logical that he doesn't know the difference." She took a deep breath and gave Erin some color pens. "Please tell me that you know what to do."

"Of course. I'm not an idiot." He took the pens and started to outline.

Too plain.....too plain.....too plain. If he continues to outline it like that then it would be too plain. I grabbed some pens and drew and overlapping line over another.

"What are you doing?" Erin asked confused.

"Well I couldn't let it be too plain." I said while continue to outline messily. Go on Erin and be confused but I'm telling you, it's gonna pay off. So I used different shades of green and blue and I added strokes randomly. It might seem like a bad idea, which it is, but it's all gonna make sense.

Once we outlined the whole drawing, I crouched down and looked at the watercolor tubes I bought. I guess we'll have to combine these with acrylic paint. But we have to blend it just right to make it look wonderful. 'Cuz I swear if they didn't turn out great I won't hesitate to start from scratch.

"Erin!" I yelled. He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Here take these and prepare them on the palette."

Once he finished preparing them he walked back to our spot. I took a paint brush and dipped in in blue. I hesitated for a moment. Should I? I mean my idea could make it wonderful or a total disaster. Well, risk the painting it is! I messily and recklessly stroked the brush at the board.

"Woah, woah, woah. What are you doing?" Erin grabbed my arm.

"Painting duh." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Really? It seems to me that you're just adding strokes carelessly."

"Sooooo?"

"So it means that it'll get messy."

"Oh come on Brown, it's style."

"Well this style of yours might actually risk it."

I just looked at him and back at the board. I looked back at him and smirked. "Well, what's life without a little risk?"

I broke from his grip and placed more random strokes. After a few moments, the painting was coming together. As the paint dried a little, you can't already notice the randomness of the stroke. Erin joined in painting after that.

The next 2 hours were a mess with me always correcting Erin. Well at least we're almost done. I took a step back and looked at the unfinished painting. Not bad.

"MISS ITALIAN! COME ON! WE HAVE TO GET GOING!" I heard Hans call.

"YAH WE'RE COMING!" I yelled back. I turned to Erin and saw that he already fixed himself while I was still a total mess. "Erin go on and place the remaining stuff on the van with the painting, I'll catch up as soon as I'm done changing."

"K. But this is already dry right?"

"Yup."

Erin's PoV

I placed the board on the back of the van and I was about to walk away when I saw one of the watercolor tubes leaking. I closed it tightly.

"Hey Erin!" Kyle greeted.

"Sup." I said

"Wait. Is that the art project you guys were working on?" Aggie asked.

"Yup."

"Is it really supposed to be like that?" Daniel asked.

"Course it is."

"Well then that red is really out of place." He crossed his arms.

"It's all according t- wait. What red?" My eyes widened in realization. We never used red a while ago.

"That red." Kyle pointed past me referring to the board. I turned around slowly and there it is. A big mass of red was painted on the corner. I looked at the watercolor tube on my hand. I'm dead. She's gonna kill me.

"Well guys, looks like we need to plan a funeral." Aggie said. "Jamie is so gonna kill him."

I grabbed a white sheet and covered the painting. I looked back at the three dummies. "None of you saw that."

"Got it."

"I saw nothing!"

"Fine, I didn't see anything but I'm telling you. You're dead."

I immediately closed the back of the van and turned to head inside.

3rd PoV

Monday arrived and the boy still haven't told Jamie. He insisted to keep the painting so she won't see. Jamie just agreed with him.

"COMING THROUGH! OUT OF THE WAY!" Jamie pushed every people that blocked her way. She was getting late. For the first time.

Once she entered her homeroom she quickly dropped her bag and sighed in relief.

"Woah, for the first time the Italian came in last." Kyle rubbed her hair making it messier than it already was.

"Give me a break. I finished the promotional video last night." Jamie tried to fix her hair. Keyword: tried.

"Excuses, excuses." Erin smirked.

Jamie glared at him.

"Now you know how I fell." Daniel said.

"Right. Sorry. Anyway I have Biology to attend." Jamie said as she stood up.

"JAMIE! JAMIE! JAMIE!" Agatha yelled as she ran towards the apple tree where her friends are.

"Woah, calm down." Jamie said taking a bite from her apple.

"Well it will be you who needs to calm down after this." Agatha smiled

"Well what is it?" Kyle butted in.

"The sign-up sheet for this year's Avant Garde is already posted on the bulletin board." Agatha said knowing that her best friend will be extremely excited.

At first Jamie was all calm. She took a pen from her bag calmly and looked back at Agatha. Then she dashed to the where the bulletin board is.

"Looks like a lot of people wants to take your crown this year." Daniel said.

The sheet was already filled with a few names. And some of those names just intimidated Jamie.

"Yah, I'm not entering." Jamie took a step backward and turned around.

"Oh no you're not." Agatha held her back. "You're entering this."

"We all are." Kyle took out his pen and started signing up. Once he finished entering his name the others followed. Except for Jamie.

"Come on. Sign." Erin nudged her.

"Pls." Aggie begged.

"Come on." Daniel placed his hand on her shoulder.

"Pwease?" Kyle said with puppy dog eyes.

"Ugh, fine." Jamie said

"YES!"

Jamie took out her pen and wrote her name. Now all five of them are entering.

"Well, no turning back now." Jamie sighed.

"Huh, I just realized. Will entered too." Daniel pointed out.

"Wait, really?" Agatha searched the paper. "He did!"

Jamie rolled her eyes. Her phone suddenly rang.

"Hello?" Jamie answered the phone. "Yah. Of course. See ya later."

"Who was it?" Erin asked.

"It's just Will." Jamie looked away. "Anyway come on! We're gonna be late for class."

The other four ran away while Erin just stayed there for a while. He looked at the sign-up sheet then followed the others.
