As soon as the bell rang outside indicating the end of class and the starting of lunch hour, Jin said goodbye to Namjoon and the other boys and ran out of the class after Jimin, who'd already left.
By the time Jin had climbed up the stairs and reached the door to the rooftop, he was panting slightly for air, a bead of sweat trickling down his forehead, which he wiped with his sweater paw before walking into the rooftop. The cool wind was really soothing against his warm skin.
Just as he looked up to see where Jimin was, he felt a body collide with his, arms wrapped around his waist. At first the dark-haired was startled, but he relaxed when he realized that it was the third maknae. Then, he heard a sniffle as the shorter had his face buried in his chest.
"Minnie?" Jin said in worry, pulling the boy closer and wrapped his arms around his shoulders. "What's wrong?"
"I'm s-sorry, hyung. I-I just-" Jimin started sobbing, his grip tightening around Jin.
The older immediately tried to soothe him by rubbing circles on his back, his other hand carding his hair, loosening it's knots as he lightly massaged his scalp.
"Shh," he whispered as Jimin continued to cry into his chest, soaking the front of his gray sweater with tears, holding small fistfuls of the material. "I'm here. Tell hyung what's wrong."
Jimin just continued to cry his heart out for the next several minutes as the older tried his best to comfort him, his body shaking. Jin's heart hurt at hearing the painful sobs of this sweet angel, but at the same time, he was furious. Who the fuck was responsible for hurting him?!
"Sweetie?" Jin asked softly, once Jimin calmed down a little, his cries reducing to sniffles. "What happened? Do you wanna talk about it?"
When Jimin finally looked up from Jin's chest, the older grimaced at how red his eyes and face were, puffy and tear-stained, his lips trembling. He slowly let go of him, wiping his tears with his tiny hands.
"I-I'm so sorry, J-Jinnie hyung," he said in a broken whisper. "It's really s-stupid and I-I shouldn't have-"
Jin quietened him with a stern look. "Park Jimin, whatever you're talking about, it's not stupid. I'm so worried about you. C'mon, let's talk it out, yeah?"
Jimin nodded, and the two walked to the edge of the roof, resting their bodies against the low wall, their arms crossed on top as they looked over at the calming blue sky in the horizon.
Jin looked over at Jimin, who was occasionally letting out hiccups and sniffles as he stared at the city skyline with swollen eyes, flushed cheeks and a sad pout on his lips, patiently waiting for him to explain the reason behind his previous breakdown.
"It was about Yoongi hyung," Jimin said quietly at last, his voice sad.
Jin immediately started firing questions at the peach-haired. "What? What did that cat guy do? Did he do something? Did he hurt you? I knew I shouldn't have let him get close to you. That little shi-"
"Hyung." Jimin couldn't help but giggle despite his state. Jin was always so protective over them... it made him feel safe. He knew that he could trust him to help him.
"Sorry," Jin apologized, smiling sheepishly. "So... what happened? Yoongi is pretty worried too, you know?"
"He cares a lot about his friends," Jimin said, breathing shakily, his glossy eyes glistening a bit.
Jin noted the bitterness in the younger's tone when he said the word 'friends'. He pursed his lips, deciding to ask him something he was meaning to ask since the last three months.
"You like him, don't you?" He said in a gentle and sympathetic voice.
This time, Jimin didn't protest like he usually would. He took a deep breath and nodded slowly, staring at a flock of birds circling in the distance.
"Yeah," he whispered. "But guess he doesn't. I saw him laughing and hugging a girl today... he doesn't even look so happy when he's with me... I just wish I could make him happier than that girl probably does."
"Have you asked him who that girl was?" Jin asked.
"No," Jimin sighed. "I just heard him telling the girl that he loved her before she left, and then joining me. He didn't even wish me a happy birthday like I was hoping, either... I must sound petty but I'm so hurt." He sniffled, rubbing his eyes.
Jin felt his heart sink. Yoongi loved someone else? After how he made it clear that he was attracted to Jimin? He didn't even wish him though he knew that it was his birthday? Well, that was enough to make Jin angry. How dare he hurt his precious mochi's feelings after how he trusted him with him?!
He sighed and hugged Jimin close as the shorter clung to him, finding his warmth comforting.
"Listen to me, Minnie," he said quietly. "As much as I hate saying it, stop thinking about Yoongi right now. It's your day, and we're gonna spend the whole day after school with the other boys. You're gonna have the time of your life. And tomorrow, I'll beat that brat's ass. Sounds fine?"
"Not the last part," Jimin said with a shaky chuckle.
Jin let go of him and huffed. "C'mon, Jiminie! He deserves it after everything." He pouted cutely, hoping that it'd convince the younger.
But Jimin shook his head, smiling sweetly but sadly. "No, hyung. If he's happy... I'll try to be happy for him."
Jin pouted even more, slumping his shoulders as he sighed dramatically. "Fine! Since you're saying and I can't say no to your cute self." He ruffled the smaller male's hair, making him whine. "C'mon. Let's go have lunch now, yeah?"

The confidence Jin felt when he decided to go and apologize to Namjoon dissolved in the air as he stood outside the door of the school gym locked from inside, after he'd knocked on it.
The several unfamiliar voices and laughter inside made it clear that if Namjoon was in there, he wasn't alone.
Jin swallowed hard, thinking about what happened after they'd an argument in Yoongi's groupchat. Namjoon had avoided him for the rest of the day, and his face was so unreadable Jin was almost scared. He hated this sudden distance after so much closeness in the last three months.
However, by the end of the day, Jin's fear had turned into guilt and sadness. He didn't want to lose Namjoon because of a stupid fight. He wouldn't be able to take it if the younger did think he was really rude and unthoughtful in the end and started avoiding him like he was now for the rest of the day.
But he couldn't help but freeze in his spot as the door was opened, and he recognized the guy with hair sticking to his face with sweat as Jackson Wang from the other day.
"Hi, there," he said with a smirk. "Looking for Namjoon?"
Jin stared at him. "How did you-"
"Well, who else are you here for?" The boy shrugged. "Should I call him?"
Jin looked at Jackson, who chuckled as the hamster nodded cutely, turning his head in the room's direction and yelling. Jin caught sight of a few guys in there from over the latter's shoulder.
"Yah, Namjoon! Your boyfriend's here calling for ya!"
Jin blushed and was about to correct the other but ended up stuttering. He became quiet when he heard the other guys saying something and snickering, most probably teasing Namjoon.
"For the umpteenth time, he's not my boyfriend!" He heard Namjoon's voice yell back.
Hurt. Jin didn't know why he felt that at Namjoon's statement but he decided to brush off the pain in his heart. He was right anyways. Jin hadn't even told him that he liked him.
"Move." Jackson moved out of the way so that Namjoon stood in his place.
Jin stared up at him with big brown eyes, his heart hammering at the sight of a sweaty Namjoon, his wet white shirt sticking to his torso and outlining his rock-hard abs, his brown pecs visible since the shirt was see-through because of sweat. Beads were trickling down his face and neck, tanned skin glowing with moisture.
"Seokjin hyung?" Namjoon said in an indifferent tone, arms holding onto the doorframe, making his muscular biceps flex. "What're you doing here? Shouldn't you be going home with the other boys?"
Jin gulped, looking down at his feet in nervousness. "I-I wanted to go with you."
Namjoon stared at him for a while, his expression softening. He was feeling guilty as well, having thought that he'd been mean to Jin in the groupchat about such a small thing. He just wanted to forget his stupidity, and so he'd joined Jackson and some other guys in their year to work out and relieve the bad feelings.
But guess that'd come to an end.
"I'll g-go grab my stuff first, then," he spoke nervously, as Jin fidgeted with the sleeve of the gray sweater he wore over his school shirt.
Namjoon was about to go inside again but was stopped in his tracks as Jin grabbed him by the shirt, his fingers holding onto the material. The taller looked back to find Jin staring at him with puppy eyes.
"W-wait."
Before Namjoon could say anything, Jin moved forward and wrapped his arms around the purple-haired, ignoring how sweaty he was and burying his face in his buff chest, hugging him so tight it was as if Namjoon would leave forever if he let go.
"H-hyung?" Namjoon was worried that Jin might've got hurt somehow, as he hesitantly petted his head. "Look at me. Are you okay?"
Jin looked up at Namjoon, giving him such a kicked puppy look that the younger just wanted to fall on his knees and give up.
"I'm so sorry about earlier," he said with a sad pout. "I didn't mean to be so harsh. Please forgive me? I don't like you being angry with me."
Namjoon sighed, smiling slightly as he used a hand to stroke Jin's left cheekbone, making him close his eyes momentarily at the comforting gesture.
"I forgive you," he said. "And I'm really sorry for my behavior too. Can you please forgive me?"
Jin blushed as he nodded shyly, only realizing their closeness now. "Y-yeah."
"Thank you." Jin squeaked as Namjoon suddenly pulled him into a tight hug.
"J-Joon, y-you're sweaty," Jin stuttered, holding onto the younger's shoulders, bending back slightly from his weight.
"Don't care." Namjoon smiled, having missed the older the whole day.
"N-Namjoon!"
"Yah yah yah, there are single people here along with people who have boyfriends but still manage to feel single because of you lovebirds- including me!"
Jackson yelled, having returned again, and that was when Namjoon let go of Jin, smirking at his blushing face.
"Wait for me here," he said in a low, husky voice. "I'll go change and join you."
Jin just nodded, feeling bashful all of a sudden, as he watched Namjoon dragging Jackson away and giving him a last smile before closing the door.
