Let me give you a backstory of me, I'm from Oxford, UK. My dad is a filmmaker and writer, and my mom is a writer and a costume designer/ makeup artist. They've been working together since my mom was 19 and my dad was 23. They got together when my mom was 22 and my dad was 26. They eventually 'settled' down a little bit, and had 3 kids. Of course they waited until my mom was 29 to have her first kid, and I'm their middle child. And my brother Oliver is 7 years older than me. And my younger brother, Jamie, is 7 years younger than me.
With growing up with them as parents, we got to go on movie sets a lot, and very early in life I wanted to become an actress. My dad helped out with this group called 'School of Comedy', and that's where I became friends with Will.
Now when School of Comedy was somewhat big, he was 16 at the time and I was 13. But he was still super cool and nice to me, well technically I was 12, cause I hadn't turned 13 yet. But him and I were friends, it was an odd friendship, it was mainly just be nice to her since she's so much younger than you. But he was always sweet to me, which caused me to get a little girl crush on him.
A lot of them recognized me, because Missing Ophelia which is about Ophelia who went missing, and it's about her family trying to find her. I play Amelia her younger sister who is worried about her, because of the unknown of what could be happening to her. That went on for 6 seasons. It ended the year I got the Maze Runner job.
And that's where we are currently, I am playing Demi the only girl in the maze. Demi came up shortly after Alby did, and has always been there to calm him down. James picked her name off of Demeter, the goddess of harvest, and I did a lot of research on her. Because I've always found gods and goddesses interesting.
Kaya who will be playing Teresa, her and I have gotten close. I have an older sister, that's what I like to say. She's the older sister I never had, she's 4 years older than me. Which I have to say is pretty awesome, I have someone who I could look up too.
Wes and James helped me a lot with her, she's a very secretive character, and there are somethings that are still not revealed about her. James says that he could do a whole book based off of her, and her book of the maze runner would look completely different. She's a girl who hides her emotions, and doesn't let anyone, but especially the boys see her at weak moments.
What was a nice and sweet surprise was when I saw Will, now I haven't seen him since 2009 pretty much. What was even funnier, was he didn't realize it was me. Because the last time he saw me I was 12. And I'm 17 now about to be 18, which is still weird to say. But hey, it's fun saying. My life hasn't been normal, especially since Missing Ophelia got so big. I've been a big name since then, and I've starred in other things as well. Plus with my last name being Y/l/n, it's kinda a nod towards my parents.
Wes was talking to Blake and I about a scene that's about to happen, when I see Wes lightly smiling. Which caused me to give him a face, but continued on listening to what he had to say. " The bond between Demi and Chuck is very, very, very strong and close. They're practically siblings, Chuck looks up to Demi a lot. Sees her as an older sister, so for that scene give me all the emotions you can, if your sister was to get hurt, " Wes comments, Blake gives him a nod, and I turn around to see Will walking up to the two of us.
" Why didn't anyone tell me earlier?! " That's all he said, he grabbed a hold of me and hugged me. Picking me up in the process, which caused me to laugh. After our hug he placed me back down on the ground. " Wow, you grew up gorgeous, " he mutters, which causes me to instantly chuckle trying to hide the blush on my face. But I can see him blushing also which makes me laugh more.
" Thanks Will, " I comment still chuckling. " I need to go get ready for the scene, " I add.
" Yeah.. yeah of course, we'll catch up later, " he comments, I give him a nod and walk towards where the scene will be taking place. Which the scene is between Dylan, Blake, Thomas, and I. Where I explain a lot to him, I'm the nicer version of Gally pretty much.
" Okay look Thomas... we all want to get out of here, okay... you're not the only one. But the difference between us and you, is that we're doing a way that won't end up with us being killed, okay... so if you listen to what Minho has to say. If you follow the directions, and I'm not saying from Gally. Okay I get it he's- I'm not saying the word I'm thinking because Chuck is here. But do it in a way so that we don't have to lose more people okay? " I ask him, he gives me a nod.
" I'm old enough Dems! " Blake tells me, which causes all of us to just shake our heads.
" Chuck... " I begin as I start to walk off.
" Come on! Please.. please! Please! " He comments following me, which they start doing the scene between just Thomas and Dylan, and let me tell you. Those two, them acting together it is a very, very, very nice scene. They have perfect chemistry.
" Strongest girl you will ever meet, Chuck sees her like an older sister. She's who anyone goes to when they need some relief, she holds so much weight from all of us, I don't know how she doesn't break, " Thomas tells him.
" Because she knows she can't, she has all of you guys to worry about. She can't have a breaking point, " Dylan comments, which causes Thomas to nod towards him. I have a kissing scene in this movie, with Will which let me tell you I did freak out a little bit. Just a little when I found out. But hey it's a part of acting.
It's later now, and I am sitting in the 'woods'. Where Gally and Demi will have a heart to heart, and she'll kiss him. Not knowing Thomas is watching. With Demi she tries to hide all of her emotions, so she just has to be alone when it happens. She usually throws rocks at the wall, just trying to get her anger and frustration out in any way.
So I begin to throw rocks at the wall just trying to focus on hitting the wall. " See... I told you, you need to be taught to throw right, " Will says walking up to me.
" Gally... I really, don't need you here right now okay? " I ask/state. He gives me a look and walks closer to me. " Gally, " I say again.
" Let me at least show you how to throw it right, " He comments, I give him a nod. He moves behind me grabbing a hold of my elbow. " You want to aim it from the side, it will give you a higher chance of it breaking. Trust me, stuff breaking.. it feels nice, " he adds. I look up at me and he's staring at the wall.
" How do you know that? " I ask.
" You're not the only one who needs to blow off stream, " he comments looking down on me. " Okay throw it, " he adds, I throw it against the wall and it breaks, and I chuckle lightly.
" That did feel nice, " I chuckle, I look back at him as he goes to grab the rock.
" See and now you have two rocks, " he tells me, I give him a nod. He handed me one of the rocks, and I grabbed a hold of his neck pulling him in towards me and kissed him. It was a quick kiss, and I quickly moved away from him. Thinking that I messed up, and I began to walk away, but I was soon met with Will's hand grabbing a hold of mine. Him quickly pulling me back towards him and kissing me. Which that kiss goes on longer, and what caused us to separate was a branch breaking. Neither of us spoke any words after that, I just quickly walked away as he stood there scratching the back of his neck.
While the others had a scene I was talking to Alex as we were getting ready for the next scene. Which Will and I have been catching up, talking about what we've been doing recently. Rekindling our friendship, which is really nice to do.
Over the span of 2 months, our friendship got really close. And I counted him more and more as a close friend of mine. And I always stayed in touch with him, and I started falling for him again. But I tried to not let it get in the way. Plus I'm also young, and I'm sure he would never like me the same.
I'm 18 right now and he's 21. He's always been there for me, through the Maze Runner movie and even while in the Scorch Trials. Him and I got really close, and we had a really good relationship between the two of us.
Eventually it changed from being friends to being more than friends. It wasn't this big romantic gesture, it wasn't anything like that. It was us two at his house. He telling me the truth about how he felt, and that's how it started. I was 19 and he was 22 when we started dating.
For a little bit, we kept it a secret for a good amount of time. For about two years we kept it private, so when Death Cure came out we were public, and a lot of fans loved the idea of us two being together. It's truly weird thinking about it, I have him.
We've been together 6 years now, and it's been absolutely amazing. The quarantine definitely brought us more together, which it showed us a lot about ourselves. He's the best guy that I could have asked for.
I'm currently in the kitchen just cleaning, when I hear the door open. With him walking in behind me. " Hey baby how are you? " I ask him turning around to face him.
" I'm okay, I'm better now since I am with you, " he tells me, which causes me to chuckle. " How have you been feeling? " He asks.
" I've been alright, " I whisper to him. He leans in and kisses me, and pulls me close. I truly want to marry him, and we've been living our life together which is absolutely amazing. " Hopefully this baby comes out soon, I'm 4 days late babe, " I add, he leans in and holds me.
" Don't worry baby, don't worry, he'll come soon, " he tells me, which causes me to nod towards him. I nod towards him, and he holds me closer to him.
He decided to surprise us that night, we named him Oliver Jack Poulter, he's a sweet baby boy, and we're going to love him so much. He's absolutely amazing.
Will posted something on Instagram, of me holding him in my arms. And he commented his name and when he was born. 'We welcomed Oliver Jack into the world today. Born on July 10th, at 11:28 pm. He's been here for 2 days, and has already stole my girl's heart'. Which caused many to comment many comments.
We did eventually get married in 2023, and I couldn't be happier. I'm glad to start a life with Will and our baby boy.
