"Y-Yeah! Me too, Y-Yahoo?.." Yamazaki cheers weakly, a blush spreading across his cheeks.
"Jeez, Yama-kun don't be so stiff. We're supposed to be a lovey-dovey married couple, you know?" (Y/N), who had latched herself to Yamazaki's arm pouts.
"How will we fool anyone when you freeze up like that...." She puffs her cheeks and presses his arm tighter to her body.
"Now, put your arm around me— naturally!!"
"Y-Yes...." Yamazaki nodded and gulped, lifting his free hand to wrap around her shoulder and gently pull her closer to him.
"L-Like this?...."
"Kya~ I love being in my hubby's arms!~" She squealed, nudging closer to Yamazaki making him freeze up again.
'(Y/N)-san is.....(Y/N)-san is so close....'
"Heh, is my hubby still shy? Is it because we just recently got married? Aww, so cute!~" She gushes, pinching his cheek which was now redder than tomatoes.
"(Y/N)-san—!!"
"Oh? Hubby, you should call me wifey now! Wifey!~ Now come on, say it!~"
"E-Eh? O-Out here?!...."
"...Oi, that woman's too into this role playing stuff." Hijikata sighs, watching (Y/N) and Yamazaki through the crack of the door of the room they were in.
"....Maybe it's nee-san's kink? You can never know, it's always the innocent looking ones." Sougo sighed, shaking his head.
"So, is there any sign of Katsura yet?"
(Y/N) looked around, before shaking her head and clutching on to Yamazaki again.
"Hubby, let's sit over there!~"
"Hey, Yama-kun? Loosen up a bit," (Y/N) whispers to Yamazaki as soon as they sit at the inn's lobby, where they had a good view of the entrance.
"I-I know, just give me some time and I'll be acting perfectly..." Yamazaki pouts a bit, deliberately looking away from her.
"I don't even get why you're so nervous....Our target isn't even here yet,"
(Y/N) and Yamazaki were on an undercover mission. Usually, Yamazaki took these undercover missions as serious as he did with stakeout missions.
But this one was different.
—and it was different because—
'It's because I'm with you— (Y/N)-san!!'
— it was because Yamazaki had the biggest crush on (Y/N).
(Y/N)— the only female member of the shinsengumi.
(Y/N)— his fellow shinsengumi colleague.
(Y/N)— his crush who was now acting as his wife.
"Look— this mission really is important so let's act natural, honey~" (Y/N) whispers, sending him a wink making Yamazaki gasp.
"Y-Yes....."
Yamazaki flinched when (Y/N) stared hard at him.
"Y-Yes.......wifey."
"Aw~ Such a sweet hubby!~"
Suddenly, she turns her head to the room where Hijikata was at. Seeing the small nod Hijikata gave her, (Y/N) nodded back and grinned.
"It's time."
(Yahoo!~ Flashback to 3 hours earlier start!)
"What? We still lack evidence?!"
"......Yes."
Today, a meeting was being held at the shinsengumi. Due to the recent raid, they managed to catch quite a number of joui rebels however the problem was evidence.
"Wait—" (Y/N) slammed her hand to the table, making everyone turn to her.
"During the last raid, weren't there papers on site? They were probably in a meeting when we stormed in—"
"—So you're saying those documents could still be there?" Hijikata gasps and (Y/N) nodded.
"They didn't have any time. They probably hid that document somewhere in the room— since it's Katsura I'm sure of it."
"But nee-san, it'll be too suspicious if we storm in again. What if the Joui Rebels try to retrieve it too?"
"I've got the perfect plan," (Y/N) smirked.
"—Undercover mission."
"I hear that the inn's planning some sort of contest and that they'll be giving away a free room as the prize!" Yamazaki says, making everyone gasp.
"That means....." Kondo— with a serious face trailed off and everyone eagerly awaited for him to finish.
".....I have no clue, what does it mean?'
"....It means," (Y/N) pauses and smirks, "That document must definitely be hidden in the room they previously used. If we win whatever contest that is— we get to have a room of our own choice and find that document!!"
"But be careful— surely, Katsura will appear there too."

"Today's special event— Ultimate Couple Showdown will now begin!!!"
A host suddenly appeared, holding a microphone while a crowd gathered.
"The winner of the showdown— whoever lucky couple it may be— gets to choose one room and stay there for a night, all expenses paid!!!"
"It's starting, Yama-kun!" (Y/N) says, dragging the still shy Yamazaki to where the host was registering the entrees.
"We'll participate!!" (Y/N) eagerly raised her hand, with a bright grin.
"Okay! Will there be any more contestants? Or shall we start the contest??''
"...I thought Katsura was supposed to show up." Yamazaki whispers to (Y/N) in a low voice and she smirked.
"He will. He might wear a disguise but I'll know as soon as I see him—"
"We'd like to participate!!" A manly high-pitched voice yells, a hand raising up high— with nails painted the color of red.
"Your name please?"
"It's Zurako."
It was Katsura dressed in a fancy kimono, with make up and a perfectly styled wig.
"And your partner's name?"
"Elizaburo."
"......WHO ARE YOU FOOLING?!" Yamazaki yells, at Elizabeth who was clearly not wearing any disguise but a lone red bowtie and a fake mustache.
"Pfft...Ahahahaha! This is gonna be so fun!" (Y/N) bursts out laughing, "Come on. Let's approach them."
"Hi there! My name's (Y/N)!! Let's get along well though we're rivals~" (Y/N) put on a friendly front and reached out a hand to Katsura.
"A pleasure to meet you, I'm Zurako. Sorry, but I'll be winning the title of the best housewife." Katsura proudly and confidently declared.
"....The contest isn't even about that?...." Yamazaki sighed.
"Zurako-san then? Are you and your....pet— I mean husband here for the free room too?"
"It's not Zurako, it's Katsura!"
"...What?"
"Ah, that was wrong." Katsura hissed, "I mean— yes. We want to win the room! I'm dedicated to sleep!"
"...I-I see, well." (Y/N) laughs and smiled at him. "May the best wife win!"
"Hm?" Katsura turned to Yamazaki, gazing at him sternly as if he recognized him.
"My, my. Zurako-san, do you need something from my husband?" (Y/N) immediately went and blocked Katsura's view of Yamazaki.
"I know my hubby is handsome, but if you stare too much—" (Y/N) pauses as she caressed Yamazaki's cheek with her hand and lean close to him.
"—I'll get jealous, okay?" (Y/N) ended in a low, strict voice. Leaning her head against Yamazaki's chest but her eyes focused on Katsura.
"No, I merely thought I've met your husband somewhere else." Katsura waved his hands before her.
"Then, let's play well!~" (Y/N) immediately switched on her smiley-face and shook Katsura's hand before walking off with Yamazaki.
"...I didn't think he'd remember your face. When was it? When did he see it?" (Y/N) hums as she placed a hand on her chin.
"I think it was from when I tried to infiltrate the Joui— but I don't think he'd remember me from something like that...."
"Yeah, you really blend in the background and don't leave much impression on people..."
"Participants please head this way!!!"
"Oh, it's starting! Let's go~" (Y/N) grabbed Yamazaki's hand and sped off.
'Gah! (Y/N)-san's hand....h-holding mine....!'
"Alright. For all couple's participating— The contest will now start!!"
"Let's do this, honey!~"
"The first test is the cooking test!! The girlfriend has to make a bento for their boyfriend within 30 minutes! And— start!!!"
"C-Cooking....— will you be fine, (Y/N)-san?" Yamazaki worriedly turned to (Y/N), while she just smirked.
"Leave it to me, honey!~ There's nothing love can't do!~"
"......"
So, for 30 minutes— Yamazaki patiently waited for her to finish.
But the whole time— he couldn't take his eyes off of (Y/N). Yamazaki was just gazing at her lovingly while also fantasizing in his mind.
"Honey~ Say ahh~"
Yamazaki smiled at the food (Y/N) held out for him.
"Ahh~"
"Yama-kun~"
"Yes?"
"Yamazaki-kun~"
"Hehehe, yes?"
"Yama-kun— dear, why don't you snap out of your delusions now?"
Yamazaki snapped back to reality and saw (Y/N) standing before him with an irritated smile. "I've been calling you for ages now, honey."
"A-Ahh! Sorry!!"
"Will your husband even eat what you've made?" Katsura cuts in, with a confident smirk. "To me it looks like a burnt rock!"
"Of course he will! He loves me!" (Y/N) growled irritatedly at Katsura, "Honey~ You love me don't you?~" She purrs at Yamazaki.
Yamazaki blushed and started fidgetting, "Y-Yes! I love you!!"
"How about you, Zurako-san? Does your husband love you enough to eat what you made—...." (Y/N) trailed off when she saw what Katsura made.
"Of course, look— even your husband wants what I made! Mwahahah!~" Katsura laughed triumphantly.
"No...I mean..." Yamazaki awkwardly scratched his cheek and stared at what Katsura made.
"—Why did you make a bomb?!"
"They said to make your specialty," Katsura shrugged, "So I simply followed the rules like a normal housewife."
"...What normal housewife would make a bomb for her husband?"
"You all pass!!"
"What?? He passed?!" (Y/N) gasped pointing to Katsura in protest. "How?!"
"Ah....well...." The host scratched his cheek, "The lady threatened to throw the bomb at us if we disqualify her...."
"They're idiots," Yamazaki sighs, shaking his head.
"....There's an idiot over there too," (Y/N) turns her eyes over to where Hijikata was with a plate full of mayonnaise. "I feel sick looking at it."
"Then, let's now start the second test— A test of compatibility!!!"
"...Compatibility?" (Y/N) tilts her head to the side as she unconsciously grabs Yamazaki's hands to intertwine with her own.
"Within 30 seconds, and with your hands tied together you have to feed your partner this whole ramen cup!! If you fail to finish it within 30 seconds, you're out!!!" The host lifted up a ramen cup for demonstration.
"Now then, everybody take your places and we will start!!"
"Come on, darling." (Y/N) tugged on Yamazaki's hand while he nodded shyly, his eyes locked on their intertwined hands.
'Uwah....I can die happy now, today was a fulfilling day~' Yamazaki sighs happily in his mind while they sat at a table directly opposite from Katsura.
While (Y/N) and Katsura exchanged competitive smirks and insults, Yamazaki was off in his imagination that involved him and (Y/N) with twins.
"Darling, it's starting~" (Y/N) tugged her wrist back to alert Yamazaki and Yamazaki looked at her.
"Here, say ahh~" (Y/N) held out her chopsticks to Yamazaki.
"Ahh~" Yamazaki gently opened his mouth, excited to be fed by her.
'(Y/N)-san is so....—'
Yamazaki's eyes widened in shock, when the chopsticks were shoved right into his mouth.
"MHMPH???!"
Yamazaki looked in front of them and saw Katsura smirking evilly at (Y/N).
(Y/N)'s eyes met with Katsura's and she sees him smirk before he lifted the whole ramen cup and threw it into Elizabeth's mouth—
—Chopsticks and all.
"THAT'S CHEATING!" (Y/N) gasped in protest while Katsura shrugged.
"They said finish the whole ramen cup so we did." Katsura smugly said while (Y/N) was seething with rage.
"Darling!!"
Yamazaki turned to her and as soon as he opened his mouth she shoved a bunch of noodles into his mouth.
'(Y/N)-san is so competitive.......'
"—and the last remaining couples are—!!!!" The host stood in between Katsura and (Y/N).
"Ms. Zurako and Mr. Elizaburo— and the newly wed couple Ms. (Y/N) and Mr. Yamazaki!!"
"Yay!!!"
"So, the final contest is......" The host paused and grinned, "A test of love!!"
"Tsk, it's not a boxing match?" (Y/N) muttered disappointedly.
"...What exactly were you planning on doing, (Y/N)-san?...." Yamazaki nervously laughed at the hostile aura the woman gave off.
"In under 5 minutes, we will release mountains of balloons here. The pair will have to find the balloon with a heart plushie inside and pop it before sharing a kiss to commemorate the win!"
"Alright!" (Y/N) yells excitedly, "We're gonna win this, darling!!!"
"K-Kiss? We're gonnna kiss? (Y/N)-san and I?!"
"Ready.....Start!"
"Let's go, honey!!~"
Not being able to organize his thoughts, though he was secretly looking forward to it— he started running forward along with (Y/N).
'W-Well...this is a mission and all so I have to go through it seriously, right?' Yamazaki nervously laughed.
'We can't help it then! (Y/N)-san, I'll do my best!!!'
"Mwahahaha! Sorry, but I'll be winning this!" Katsura smirked at (Y/N), holding a balloon in hand.
"You're not good enough to be a housewife yet, (Y/N)-san. Hahahahah!" Katsura laughed, when all of a sudden (Y/N) grabbed his head.
"E-Eh?..."
(Y/N) wordlessly headbutted him and stole the balloon from Katsura's hand before popping it.
"Tsk, it wasn't it. He was tricking me." (Y/N) clicked her tongue.
Katsura, whose forehead was bleeding weakly stood up and laughed.
"You got tricked! Mwahahahahh!"
"...Oh?" (Y/N) smirked and then she grabbed Katsura by his ankles and started popping the balloons by whacking him all around.
".....I-Is that allowed...h-honey?" Yamazaki nervously approached (Y/N) who was busy swinging Katsura around.
"Ah, well he kept annoying me— it's fine isn't it? The host didn't say any rules as well." She giggled cutely, as if she wasn't just swinging around a whole grown man.
"Ah, look! There it is!!" Yamazaki gasps, spotting the heart shaped plushie on the ground which he immediately swiped.
"T-Then, all that's left is....." Yamazaki stuttered and walked closer to (Y/N), "T-The kiss....."
"Yeah," (Y/N) smiled gently at him, her eyes gazing fondly at his figure.
"W-Well....A-Actually, maybe we shouldn—"
"!"
Yamazaki was cut off when all of a sudden, she leaned forward and pecked his lips.
"That counts right?" She grinned, giggling as she turned around.
–While Yamazaki had exploded.
'(Y/N)-san and I....our lips....touched...We kissed!!'
"(Y/N)-san, why did you become my partner for this mission—"
She paused and turned back for a while, giving him a wide smile.
"Who knows?" She giggles, "Isn't it fate?~"

4 hours ago before the meeting in the shinsengumi
"This is do or die, you only have one choice." (Y/N) growls in a low voice, a knife in her hands.
"Now, make your choice Hiji-kun. While I'm being patient~" (Y/N) leaned back on her chair, crossing one leg over the other.
"W-Wait! (Y/N), give me a chance!! Please!" Hijikata who was kneeling before her pleaded nervously.
"Sorry, Hiji-kun." She sighs, shaking her head. "But still, don't you get it? I've been asking kindly all this time, you know? I might get impatient soon."
(Y/N) looked at Hijikata and smirked, "If I get impatient...." She swirled the knife around, "I might start practicing darts with knives..."
"I-I got it! Alright! I agree! You win!!" Hijikata cries aloud and her smirk widened.
"What will you do again?~"
"I'll....— I'll assign you and Yamazaki to the mission together and tell him you have to act like a married couple!! So please—" Hijikata bowed his head.
"...Don't hurt my mayonnaise."
"See?" (Y/N) grins, tossing Hijikata's full stock of mayonnaise towards him. "I'm easy to talk to, aren't I?~"
