Hazel's POV
"Oh my gods what could you possibly want?"

Octavian plastered a grin onto his face. "Calm down, Levesque. I just wanted to ask if you could kindly lend me a pencil?"

My hand slowly released from a fist before sighing. "Okay. I will allow you to borrow a pencil. Please go away."

He grabbed the pencil out of my hand it twirled it around his fingers before snapping it in half, letting it fall to the floor.

Octavian was already walking away, but I could feel his smirk from the behind.

I took a deep breath before picking up the now broken pencil, and tossed it into the trash.

"Honestly, I don't know how no one has punched him in the face yet."

I couldn't help but nod and agree. "Sometimes, I think I will. But it'd be unfortunate for him if I ruined his face."

Frank looked at me for a second before slowly smiling. "He'd deserve it anyways."

I glanced down at my painting before deciding to put it away and let it dry.

"I don't even understand why he's in art. He already has his art credits and he never does his work. It's worse that the teacher likes him."

Frank shrugged. "Probably because he transferred in the middle of the year. They just put him in whatever electives I guess."

I frowned. "His art sucks anyways. He is always drawing stuffed animals."

"I know. And they aren't the cuddly kind."

I looked at my watch and glanced at Frank. "So are you doing anything after school today?"

He frowned. "Not really. I was supposed to hang out with Percy but he had to babysit Estelle."

He scratched the back of his neck. "Are you doing anything? It's Friday."

I inwardly grinned. "I don't have any plans."

Frank cleared his throat. "Well, um. If you aren't doing anything do you want to do something? With me."

I smiled. "Well. I've always wanted to try mini golfing."

——————————————

We got to the mini golfing place, which seemed a bit run down–a couple of letters were missing from the building name.

I'm not sure if this constituted as a hang out or a date, but I just went with it.

After Frank and I got our putt clubs, we slowly made our way to the golf course.

"Let me get this straight, you've never been mini golfing?"

I sighed. "Yes, Frank, for the seventeenth time, I have not."

Frank laughed as he scratched his neck. When he lifted his arm, his forearm came into view.

I quickly looked away before clearing my throat. "But, I will point out that I will beat you regardless."

He smirked. "I may not seem like the competitive type, but I will definitely not be losing. I'm basically the best person in the world at mini golf."

I smiled. "Do you want to make this interesting? Loser pays for dinner?"

Frank grinned mischievously. "Challenge accepted."

——————

"Ugh I don't understand, Hazel. Are you sure you haven't played before?"

"I'm just a natural, what can I say?"

Frank crossed his arms and pouted. "But you've gotten a hole in one in nearly every hole we've played. You scammed me."

I laughed. "Sorry, Frank. Looks like you'll be buying me dinner."

He sighed. "Okay a deal's a deal. Are you craving anything?"

Frank opened the passenger side door of his car and waited for me to go in.

"I'm not sure, I don't eat out much. Anything you want to recommend?"

Frank grinned. "Well, if you're wanting to try Chinese food I know a good place."

I waited for Frank to hop in the car. "Honestly, I don't think since ever really tried Chinese food. Not authentic anyways."

"Oh my gods you have to try this place. It's honestly the best I've tasted."

I smiled. "Okay let's go there then. If it's not good I'm blaming you."

Frank slowly pulled out of the parking lot and began driving.

"There's no way it'll be bad. I literally swear by this place."

I laughed. "What in particular makes you love this place so much?"

Frank paused before clearing his throat. "I used to go here with my mom all the time. She was busy a lot so every Saturday night we'd go out to eat at our favorite restaurant. Apparently it's where she met my dad."

"That sounds like a good memory."

Frank smiled. "Yeah. Ever since she passed I haven't really gone as much. But the owner's basically family, one of my grandma's old friends."

We sat in a comfortable silence for a while before I asked, "Do you miss her?"

Frank slowly pulled into the parking lot and sighed. "I do. Even though I didn't see her all the time, I looked up to her. You know, she was known as 'The Eagle' by the army. She was always so strong; that's what I aspire to be."

I felt a slight tingling as I glanced down at the eagle on my forearm. My eyes widened but I quickly dismissed the thought. This was not the time.

"Your mom sounds amazing."

Frank smiled fondly. "She was. But enough of that. Are you ready to try the best Chinese food in the world?"

I laughed. "Well if the Frank Zhang claims it's the best in the world then it must be true."

We got out the car and walked into the restaurant. It was small, about half the tables filled with customers. One of the workers at the front told us to sit at any table and handed us menus as we sat down.

"So, what do you think so far?"

I raised a brow. "Well, we just sat down so not much to think yet. But I like the vibe, it's very cute seems very authentic."

"If it's okay with you, I want to order a few dishes for you to try. It'll be a surprise until they come out."

I grinned. "That sounds amazing. I wouldn't know what to get anyways."

Frank smiled nervously. "Okay. I hope you like them."

In my mind, I couldn't help but think, maybe I'm starting to like you.
