Episode 3 - A Pirates Life For Me

Start from the beginning

"Not possible," Dareth says, "for I am the greatest in the land. How many trophies do you have?"

Jay groans. "Look pal, we're the guys that just saved the city from that giant snake."

Dareth lets out a half hearted laugh. "Am I looking at Lord Garmadon? Because unless I'm stupid, and I'm not, Lord Garmadon destroyed the Devourer."

"No, but Lloyd and I are his kids," I say, stepping forward.

Dareth looks me up and down in a fashion that sends a shiver of disgust down my spine. "Fine, I'll let you train here, but only on one condition," he finally says. "You can defeat me. If you succeed, we will share the dojo. That's right. I, Grand Sensei Dareth, master of all Animal Fighting Styles challenge one of you to a battle." Dareth drops down on his hands and knees. "I know the tiger--" he lets out a few growls before jumping back to his feet. He waves his arms about in a hypnotic manner-- "the python--" he hisses menacingly, then drops his hands to his sides and stiffens his body-- "the penguin--" he starts to chirp like a penguin.

Fed up with his display, I pull my hood on and spinjitzu towards him, whacking him around for a few moments before throwing him to the ground in front of his trophies. Kai comes to my side, pulling my hood off and pressing a quick kiss to my cheek.

Dareth looks at us, disoriented. "How did you--"

"You might know animals, but we know Spinjitzu," Kai says, taking my hand in his.

"You can train at my dojo anytime." Dareth says.

"When you strike with your fists, concentrate. You may be small, but you're strong," Cole says as he adds another wooden plank to the pile, making it a total of ten planks for Lloyd to break.

Lloyd nods then looks at the boards. He takes a deep breath and clasps his hands together. I cant help but grin at his calm manner. Just days ago, he was bouncing off the walls and shouting cocky phrases whilst training. He's learned fast and matured greatly in such a short time. I cant help but think the newfound maturity is thanks to me. Our ballet lessons every night after the ninja head to bed have taught him patience and poise.

Exhaling deeply, Lloyd swings his right arm down on the boards. He breaks all ten, the table they sit on, and puts a crack in the wooden floor. Kai, Cole and Zane are tossed backwards. The force of the blow catches me off guard, causing me to stumble as well. We all look at Lloyd, bewildered.

"That was the power of the Staff of Quakes. And you did it without the Golden Weapon!" Jay exclaims.

"That must be why you have the potential to be the greatest Ninja. You can harness all of the Elemental Powers," Zane says wondrously.

"Really? Cool." Lloyd grins.

"With this power, you must be careful. You must control it before it controls you," Uncle says from his meditation spot in the far corner.

"I have to admit, not bad for a kid," comes the voice of Dareth. We all turn to watch him enter the room with two kids at his side, each holding a pile of planks. "But instead of ten boards, how about fifty? Stack 'em boys."

Uncle Wu lets out a huff of annoyance as the two boys set down their piles of planks. Two piles of twenty five planks sit, balanced on two cinderblocks. I cant help but roll my eyes. The pile of planks is almost as tall as I am. There's no way Dareth is going to break it.

"And perhaps if I, Grand Sensei Dareth, can break through them all, you will allow me to join your team and become--" Dareth pulls a hood over his head-- "The Brown Ninja!"
