Uncle Wu flies Kai's dragon, Flame, over the forest that surrounds the Monastery. When we near the treehouse my brother built, which is currently collapsing, Uncle plays a short tune on the flute. Many of the remaining snakes quickly slither away upon hearing the noise. Cole, who was attacking the ninja on the roof, now shakes his head and steps away from them in confusion.

"We're getting out of here because this whole place is coming down!" Nya shouts as Wu lands the dragon beside the four boys.

"That flute!" Kai shouts.

"It cancels their powers!" Jay finishes for him.

"It's as old as the Serpentine themselves. But we must hurry! The Monastery is unguarded! Quickly!" Uncle Wu replies urgently.

The four ninja scramble onto the Dragon. It's a tight fit, seeing as there are seven of us riding a dragon meant to carry one, but we manage. By the time we reach the top of the mountain, the Monastery is nothing but a pile of ash. Fire burns at every turn and loud screeches signify the distress of the remaining dragons.

"We're too late!" Kai gasps in horror.

"Rocky!" Cole shouts. He leaps from Flame's back before the beast lands and rushes to release the other three dragons.

"Our home.." Kai mutters despairingly.

"Shard! Put this out!" Zane yells. At his command, Shard flies high into the air and rains ice on the remaining flames. "The training equipment... gone!"

"Our video games! Gone!" Jay wails.

"They stole their staff back," Uncle adds.

"What do we do now?" Cole asks dejectedly.

Without warning, Kai wheels around on Zane. "If you hadn't followed that silly bird, none of this would've happened!"

"Kai!" Wu scolds.

"No, Sensei, he's right! Because of you, my high score has been deleted!" Jay screams.

"This is a teaching moment. We must learn from this," Zane reasons, but the others wont have it.

"A teaching moment? What's wrong with you? Don't you get it? Everything is gone!" Cole yells.

"Enough! We're all at fault. Zane is your brother. Apologize at once!" Sensei snaps.

The three hateful ninja let out a unanimous sigh. "I'm sorry, Zane, I-" Kai begins, but as he turns to face his brother, he finds that Zane has gone.

"Wh-what are we eating again?" Kai asks as he hesitantly lifts the brown slug to his mouth.

"Mud Newt. Not bad for something that lives underground," Cole says with a hopeful chuckle.

"What?" Jay gasps. He tosses the slug away and it lands in a can. "Yeah! New high s-sc-score!"

"Remember, we must be thankful for what we still have," Uncle Wu says wisely. Of course he's being wise, it sets me off.

"Thankful for what we still have? Thankful for what we still have! No. I will not be thankful because I have nothing!" I hiss. With that, I stand up and stalk to the edge of the camp.

I hear Cole sigh behind me. "She's right. What do we have? Our home is gone!"

"I don't think that's what she meant, Cole," Jay mumbles.

"Does it matter? I don't miss our home. What I really miss is Zane," Kai says.

"Yeah, I miss Zane," Jay agrees.
